Since the client was updated to 'dismiss' summons if the gauge requirement is not met, can you implement a 'common' skill that sets the gauge amount to 0 for say .5-1 seconds so the client 'dismisses' the summons? This would be  fast way to finally get this done.

This would be nice. I wonder if I can figure out how to do it myself... personal fixes ftw haha

Anything you do client-side would appear to work on your client but the server will still see the pets there. And if you force a flagged death, then you'll probly get DC'd. But if you find/think of any other ways let me know.
