Alright, so this is getting really frustrating. After downloading the client, I go to the installer and repeatedly get the same error message "the process cannot access the file because another process has locked a portion of the file" What does this even mean and how do I fix it?

Hello,

first question: did you download the installer from the official website (www.playdragonsaga.com)?

This error means that another program is accessing the file you're trying to use. When does this happen? At the moment you try to run the installer?

What is the name of the file you're trying to run?

Without a bit more information the only solution I can tell you at the moment is trying to turn off your antivirus software (only if you downloaded the official installer from the official website).

Yes, I did.

It happens after the "validating" step when it says "Updating component registration"

I tried turning off my antivirus and that didn't seem to help.

If this happens at this point the problem lies deeper in your system.

While the component registration is updated several stuff is done system-based like adding the uninstaller information to the registry and such.

Why this potion is locked by another process is unclear to me, because - except the system - no process should lock such potions of the filesystem exclusively.

However this is a system-side problem and can be caused by many reasons, for example messed up security settings and much more.

I can offer you a download link to a pre-installed game. You just have to download some rar-archives and then unpack it with WinRAR or 7-zip to a folder of your choice. Then you can start the game by running the "patcher.exe" in this folder and let the game patch. This way you bypass the component registration and the error won't happen anymore. Only disadvantage is that you have to create a desktop icon yourself if you need it.

If you want to get the downloadlink from me just let me know.

Update: Tried it again without changing anything and it decided to install correctly. Computers, how do they work?

Still getting a few weird minor errors ingame, most notably that the music sometimes stops playing instead of looping, or just doesn't play at all, yet sometimes it works fine. Weird...

Very strange. Never got such reports before  :p_conf:

However I am glad that the game works finally.

Welcome to our great community! Hope to see you in-game.

This is usually quite correct also with computers.
