This only happens to me on wp forum. I have to navigate to community chat or something to view notifications or go to my profile to respond to a status comment, otherwise it loads forever. It is extremely irritating.
Can't view notifications/respond to statuses on front page.

Yeah, it's been bugged for like a month+? I think... I thought Oda made a status about it as well some time back. Wonder why it hasn't been fixed yet.

A lot of people have been posting about it since it started in the status section. Some in comments, others as a status.
Dunno if it matters since it seems like a forum coding issue, but I'm using Chrome.
