I'm thinking of making a katar raider melee with the usual crit/aspd/dodge focus. I want to make this raider without using a stat/skill reset to keep my options open

As 1vs1 isn't an efficient way to level to 230 (why shouldn't it be?), the options I have is to lure using a bow or have high dodge/mspeed and/or have the 2? aoe skills a katar raider has available at 2nd job. As having the Aoe skills seems more useful in aoe parties, that can still make a decent katar raider that I want right?

Level as a dual raider to cap then use free reset from darren in Junon to change to Katar.

unless you have a cleric and dex buffer then leveling a katar through 1 v 1 isn't as bad as you think (i've tried it), otherwise you just have to bear with it.

I) Suggestions

1. Going for dual raider build with 4 AoE

Pros:

- Class itself is quite tough

- Good AoE power/ potential

- Prefered by parties

- Can perform well in soloing or partying or luring or buffing

Cons:

- Have to reset later

2. Going for katar raider build with 2 AoE

Pros:

- Better melee damage compared to 1)

- Good AoE, which is more preferable in parties

Cons:

- Have to reset later

3. Going for katar raider non-aoe build, mainly solo

Pros:

- Good melee damage

- Cloak for survivabilities

- Don't have to reset later

Cons:

- Hard time 1v1 without good support

- Not favored by parties

4. Going for katar raider non-aoe build, engage in parties (Kinda similar to 3.)

Pros:

- Good melee damage

- Cloak for survivabilities

- Don't have to reset later

- Good for 70~120 and 180+ level range, as a lurer

Cons:

- Useless as a lurer from 1-80, 130-180

- Not favored by parties

5. Going for katar raider non-aoe build + Create extra AoE classes, 1H Knight > Spear Champ > Mage

Pros:

- Comfortable way to level 2 characters at the same time.

- Promise high chance to be partied, thanks to the AoE

- Don't waste the free reset on raider

- When capped at 230, have extra char for dungeons/ hunting.

Cons:

- Computer specs matter.

II) Conclusions

Prefered order: 5 - 1 - 2 - 4 - 3

-------------

All is based on personal experience & favor, which is just for reference.

Trang.

We simply can only accept that 1vs1 is a horrendous way to level, more so because aoe is much faster and the better option and that there aren't much players who wish to play the game as "cheaply" as possible because of the majority are veteran players. I might be wrong. State of the game? I dunno.

Raiders are perhaps meant to be zipping around killing things in a very quick manner in comparison to an aoe class which whittles down the hp of a large number of monsters, I'm thinking of how leveling could be evened out... I assume generally everyone would probably think that there is no need of change needed here.

This is the same in all games maybe...

Perhaps this game needs a monster like chansey/metal slime, that a dps type player can kill for exp that an aoe can't kill so well. There are already different types of monsters, there aren't much mechanics to counter AoE characters except in perhaps dungeons. This monster type is probably taken by kings but they aren't efficient to kill for exp.

Requires too much effort to be implemented. sigh.

this kind of complexity is already being working on in pegasus incase you didn't go on to test

Seriously, get on and test
