Hi internet,

I had a few questions about this class and in general. I search the internet and find mixed answers or not answered

Why do guides state Mages should put stat points into STR?

\

Apart from STR giving you health and defensive points, I want that to be an option because I like glass cannons.

If there is a weapon or something that requires base stats or total stats in STR to equip then it should be stated.(Which btw were base stats, not total) Also, it would be helpful if so to then inform the reader of the difficulty, self-experience and choices that come if you choose to do this or opt-out those stat points. This is a mistake I think is very common in guides and when people are trying to inform others. At least from my perspective I dislike when people insert "for newbies, new players" and talk about things that a new player may not know or have a hard time figuring out. Even if you're just bragging, it would be a good idea to pop in details in case a reader does not have the tools or knowledge to figure out why you're bragging about something rather than trying to inform.

Starting a new character... Does it matter what stats or skill points you put into when leveling towards your second job change?

\

As a Ragnarok player, I was aware of skill and stat points being reset when you transcend. That's sort of like job change. I was just wondering if a reset ever happens so that I can plan out and test new waters. If so then I would also like to know what actually resets, stats skills or both.

What potential do mages have as a SOLO player in PvM compared to other classes?

\

I'm aware that this game is intended for party play. Just wondering what experienced players in this class can say about this subject in their point of view for the newer players who do not intend on searching for a consistent party/group all the time. I tried the AoE skills and to be honest, I find them useless if I die when mobs get's close to me every time. I haven't researched enough about the second job but maybe I'm just second guessing the potential of a Mage's AoE skills as a newer player. I'm sure players with the best equips can make any skill viable haha.

-These are my main questions for now. I'm sure more will arise later on when I get around level 90

or past 100. Unless the answers to my future questions are already answered in good detail that I wouldn't need to ask it again. From the past few days of playing this game by myself, I found that this forum community is very active and not many are new player friendly. Please note the name of my title states new player, not a new character. Be gentle and thanks in advance for your time and input. Every little bit is appreciated, right or wrong.

Welp, STR gives you the following effect as a mage. Maximum HP, Maximum Carry Weight, Defense [scaling is being upgraded soon], and secondary AP while wielding a Staff. So putting some points into STR will benefit you greatly in the long haul.

It does and doesn't. It will affect your contribution to partys having AoE's over single target damage. So keep that in mind while adding skill points, but don't skip on your passives and survival skills, as a mage, you need those.

As for a solo build, use lightning! Once you hit 100, the spells dramatically improve in not only crowd control, but survival and very fast CPS [cast per second]. If you couple it with another element [I prefer fire for some burst or sorcery to keep your CPS up] then you'll do that much better.

Also keep in mind, we're testing a massive update on Pegasus, once that goes live, everyone will be given a 24 hour logged in time skill and stat reset with unlimited usage. [meaning it only counts down WHILE you're logged in, and you can reset an infinite number of times during that period]. So for now, feel free to just build how you want to. Then when the free resets come out, experiment some and play around, you'll find something that suits you.

@Feur(Feuer)-Edit b4 you get upset about a misspelled name

Ok so STR also gives some AP when wielding a staff. I just feel like spreading out stat points for small benefits don't outweigh main attributes and more beneficial stats. At least from my experience in other MMO's, "in the long run" to me doesn't matter. I find that skills, equipment and other factors "in the long run" make those secondary stat gains miniscule and very optional, not optimal. I guess I'll find out for myself in a year or something when I distribute the stats I bared in mind.

What does and doesn't? The passives are kind of no-brainers. What survival skills does a muse need when leveling in a party? Healing? I haven't yet seen a comprehensive guide on skill distribution while leveling, only for stats on muse. This is sort of my fear coming up on forums and asking newbie questions. But at least I have something to work with.

Why use lightning? Are water monsters better exp/loot or what purpose do you suggest to use lightning for?

What skills improve? The previously learned skills or you mean the class learns new skills? You're not making much sense. How am I supposed to have my skills improve at 100 without spending skill points on new skills. Unless you meant job change changes the previously learned skills or gain some sort of passive ability.

I have to keep in mind you're ("we're") testing an update on Pegasus? Ok so you're saying that the only way one aquires a stat and or skill reset in this game is through that event. Other than premium items that offer reset, of course.

Going pure int won't give you maximum magic damage output so you'll want to invest in some str.

Edit: to make more sense:

you get .3 attack power(ap) for every str, .6 ap for every int, .1 ap for every sen.

Here is a page the talks about the stats in detail.

http://rose.irowiki....i/Stats#Bonuses

You are limited to one free skill/stat reset which is available after you reach level 50 by mayor darren located at the center of junon polis.

he's probably saying that he recommends getting skills in the muse's lightning skill tree as the mage lighting skills have those skills as requirements. the elemental system is not functional in the "live" server so you can disregard that currently.

we all will probably get stat/skill resets when the changes from the test server are put into place in the "live" server.

Oh really that's nice I thought it was like a third of the bonus or something. Cool, so then there is a free reset. I was thinking at 100 after job change or something might have one. Other posts I read say different things, something about level 70, level 30, was my confusion. Thanks, those are the answers I was looking for.  I guess I can take people's word in other posts for my last questions on how mages stack in PvM. Just wanted to get all of this info in one thread so others like me might get their questions answered. Much appreciated.

Oh I forgot to ask if the free skill reset after 50 is still available if I don't use it. Say after I job change or reach a certain level past 50 like say 100 or something. Guess I'll talk to this mayor and find out. Lol

Yeah, any level 50+ can use it once.
