I still hate that it explains what you are watching, but cut those bits out and it is fun

Man, Disney hasn't made much movies in that vein since they dropped 2D animation.

Most of Disney's feature length animations from the 1940's through the Mid '90's were well done.
The adaptations of Watership Down and The Plague Dogs by Richard Adams.
René Laloux's La Planète Sauvage (Fantastic Planet) and Les Maîtres du Temps (Time Masters).
Ralph Bakshi's Lord of the Rings adaptation and Wizards.
The Last Unicorn.

That really vibrant and smooth 2D animation is just traced and cleaned 3D or rotoscope animation. Moreso the former nowadays. It's always going to be more expensive because of the additional processes involved. Japanimation is a dying industry for the same reason :/

I really like traditional cel and stop motion animation as an art form. There is usually some aspect of western animation that is off-putting, whether it be crappy voice acting, thin plot, weak characters, or whatever. However, if there is a good technical execution, I can at least appreciate the craftsmanship it takes to be produced.
I guess, for campy Saturday morning nostalgia, there are these:
Johnny Quest was definitely the cream of the crop for Hanna-Barbara cartoons.
Addendum:
The wife still has all her paraphernalia from these cluttering the house:
