oda mentioned this during the tiki tuesday. this is so it's easier to make all costumes malangdo enchantable, but also means that things like exp costumes, full moon, etc go out the window. thoughts?

https://youtu.be/l4jgcwHDd-M?t=561

Campitor: To avoid confusion,

What the proposal was; is to remove all current effects on all costumes such as status, exp, etc that are native to that costume only. Then open the Malangdo Costume enchant npc to all costumes. Currently enchanted costumes would not be affected by this as they already work with this system.

We'll see when and if it eventually comes to pass.

But I think I've advocated enough on the subject matter that IF it does happen I personally would be very happy.

I can get behind this. As stated, seeing EXP costumes go would be sad, but could balance the costume mechanic. Also, could wear any costumes anytime with any character and that would greatly balance the prices of ALL costumes (excpet maybe sick looking ones).

But, also, would that mean that ANY costume can be traded for Enchant Stone box? In that case, I forsee a future with many ASPD stones. Maybe that will drop the price on ASPD Costumes.

maybe keep the EXP but keep it rolling costume after costume? like EXP for this month is in costume A and next month will be costume B, akin to the spotlight system. hey, could even relate/link it to spotlight town? similar to Chinese New Year costumes but temp EXP instead of stat? may encourage use of a variety of costumes andimprove the costume industry by supporting local businesses and providing related jobs. im just making excuses cause im gonna miss those

Honestly looks like they want to take the laziest course of action, so I disagree. Almost all the new costumes kro implements are added to the malangdo enchantable list and they even add some old costumes too, why is iro unable to?

Costume with stats or special effects? no malangdo enchants. Costumes with no added bonus whatsoever? make it enchantable.

But, also, would that mean that ANY costume can be traded for Enchant Stone box?

That I hope not to see. While great from a player standpoint, I can see things from a business stand point too . The costume system was ruined with the introduction of the stat system(that's not iRO's fault).

I think keeping the Enchant boxes trade-able with only those Kit Boxes keeps the rarity of those items up and also allows for the micro-transactions of said cash shop items to keep taking place for revenue and keep this game up as long as possible(As long as Ragnarok Online is Free to Play, I'm all for the Cash Shop. Pros and Cons, it's not perfect). :p_hi:

I think it's a good compromise though, right? It would make Costume Items costumes again without completely destroying the system that's already been put in place. It would no longer be about what initial bonuses came with the headgears(i.e +50 ATK/MATK, +20% EXP, etc.) but allow players to wear what they want to wear and would increase the items that can be enchanted regardless.

However I believe they should increase the amount of older headgears that have been previously been in-game into Costume status to allow for players to enjoy the older gears they may have liked back in the day.

I can get behind this, though ideally I would prefer to see any and all effects and enchantments gone period. These were supposed to be costumes, god damnit Gravity.

I'm just confused as to why they would start doing this now. It'd be whatever if that was what they intended to do from the start when we first got the costume update, but to let players take advantage of the broken system and then suddenly decide to balance it this much later is just odd. I mean, they still haven't gotten around to fixing those community headgears so this is even more perplexing.

^they finally realize how important cute hat is for ro. By removing additional effect of costume hats, they can allow players to wear what they want and not just +30%exp hat. So moaarr moneh :v

So am I. Didn't say it would be an iRO-only change. Although I wouldn't be opposed to that either since we do have our own launcher.

Missed this when I was writing my earlier post.

Terraria so far has the best costume system of any RPG-esque game I've played, in it you can essentially toss any piece of equipment you want to show off in your costume slots and they override your appearance while also removing any stats and bonuses those equipments might have. Perfect freedom to style yourself and gear yourself the way you want.

i doubt this will ever happen. you can't trade in all the enchantable costumes now for stones for example, only the ones in the kitcoin costume box. otherwise you'd just have ppl trading in costume goggles all day.

Piss on that; as much as I hate my lamp costume, I find that LUK to be quite good, if that is gone someone is getting a slappin!
