I would like to know the mp required for level up after ML20, as the NPC asked me for 49500 mp for leveling up from ML21 to ML22, should it be around 25000 mp?

the npc is correct,

 

ML22 requires 49,500mp and 19z 200r
ML23 requires 52,800mp and 20z 400r
ML24 requires 56,200mp and 21z 600r

and etc...

From ml21 to 35 the amount of MP is doubled, from 36 to 40 is 4x

Yes, that's correct. There is a sudden huge jump, which may catch unsuspecting players off guard.
