I need enlightenment on the gray world edit.
Sorry man, I deleted my thread asking about it because I thought it was sort of embarrassing how the community devolved it into guild drama (and the staff let it happen). But from what I recall....
- Grey texture is fine
- minimaps are allowed
- mini barricades are possibly allowed because the GM team didn't care when they were reported as in the example of that video. So here's the tricky part. Campitor said no editing of npcs/monsters but the example set before us says different....
Now. time to be "that guy". I think these things are great. (well not the npc /mob editting) however - unless an official... or unofficially official source for these edits is provided I don't think they should be allowed.
And here's why
GRF editting is annoying. You have to download this and that and find out what is needed and google around and research it. Cue people coming in saying just google it, it's easy. Fine but they've done it for years.
Its very easy to mess up your GRF, cause sprite issues and errors and disconnects. It's also easy to stumble across edits that add untoward things along with ok things.
For example there's a nice minimal effect pack out there with a diff colours cursor. But it also has all mvps as satan morroc/no attack animations on most classes.
People will find these things either by accident or on purpose.
So i propose an officially endorsed edit pack. otherwise it really should be discouraged.
