No one mention Age and Reconguista /heh

Damn I need to watch Origins. I love the story about Principality. One story I fond of is Gihren Ansatsu Keikaku, but it's not adapted into anime :(

I'm a big fan of MSG Wing, but not fond of Endless Waltz since the the Gundam designs didn't make sense with the designs of the TV show. If it was another Gundam series entirely, then Endless Waltz would be acceptable, but as a connected story to the TV series, the designs didn't gel right.

There's a Manga (Mobile suit Gundam WIng: Glory of Losers) with On-going Translations on Zeonic. That manga has all the Gundams with Ver. Katoki models/designs before they became the Endless Waltz/Custom units on the Movie, it basically retells the whole Gundam WIng Series with some variations aside from Gundam Designs, new models like the Tallgeese Flugel (that Zechs used when he went to space as Millardo Peacecraft looking at space colonies) plus the Manga showed How the WIng Zero ended up having the "Angel Like wings" (that chapter isn't Scanlated yet though)

Age's wimpy last main char made me go Meh, but the concept of evolving the Gundam through the AGE system was nice which was quite the same as the basis for the Extreme Gundam Type Leos Phase Armor Packs (the Gundam's Armor Packs are Based on Mobile Suit Data Collected from different Gundam Timelines)

i dunno about reconguista, i skipped it after watching about 6 episodes, because the plot seems like its all over the place.

but MSG iron blooded orphans looks great so far, i'm kinda hoping that they'll show all the 72 Gundams named after the 72 demons in the Ars Goetia, but that could probably be spread from a prequel or sequel once the series finishes

G Reco

"Tomino-san, we'll let you make a Gundam series again for 26 episodes."
"Year-long 52 episodes please."
"26."

It's good, quite Tomino-ish, but judging from the gunpla sales I don't think Tomino will work on Gundam for some time.

AGE was Build Fighters done with the wrong mindset.

Reconguista was a demented man stuck in the 1970s trying to be relevant in the 21st century and failing.

So a retcon then?

Yeah, I think I'll pass.

when you think about it, its more like an alternate storyline just to follow the units shown on the Movie, coz you could swap in the Custom units from the TV series, and the Movie will still be Endless Waltz, Its more like an Aesthetic thingy. since if you compare Katoki Hajime's Gundam Wing Model Designs (The EW ones), its way more cool looking compared to the Original designs shown on the TV Series. in my Opinion, the producers probably thought something like "since we're making a movie, lets go at it with a bang and make things look much better!"

Except I prefer the original designs since they look more Gundam than Endless Waltz's Escaflowne-esque styles.

Then there's that crazy trainwreck called Frozen Teardrop.

I don't really understand the Wing hype except for Toonami playing a part on it.

It was much more advertised in the states with the (no grade) model kits being released around the same time it aired on Toonami. The other Gundam series weren't aired nearly as much as MSG Wing, which is a real shame. I was looking forward to watching other Gundam series when they aired a few episodes of MSG 00 and 8th MS Team.

Oh well, the hype has died off and we have high speed Internet now. MSG Wing is still a favorite of mine, but I am open to getting into the older series and maybe the new ones.

I completely forgot about the toy and kit merch line. Some of the MSIA action figures were cool.

Right now I'm on the Orphans hype train.

If I recall correctly, Gundam Wing was the first Gundam to be aired overseas. First impressions leave a big impact.

And it started a trend in spinoff era series' that hasn't abated since.

The spinoffs/AUs were started by G Gundam (1994), Gundam Wing (1995), and Gundam X (1996), it's just that Gundam Wing received the most publicity of the trio. Personally I like Gundam X moreso than Wing, out of the three. This was followed by Turn A Gundam in 1999, after which Gundam took a little break of sorts.

The franchise got rebooted for the 21st century with Gundam SEED/SEED Destiny in 2002 and 2004 respectively. Followed by Gundam 00 seasons 1 and 2 in 2007 and 2008 respectively, and culminating in a theatrical Gundam 00 movie in 2010. Gundam SEED/SEED Destiny also got HD re-airings and re-releases on Blu-Rays around 2012 and 2014 respectively.

Gundam AGE came out afterwards in 2011 to lackluster reception, this was where Sunrise first tried the "aimed for kids" style outside of SD Gundam and such. Sunrise made up for their epic fail with the releases of Gundam Build Fighters in 2013 and Gundam Build Fighters Try in 2014, this time nailing the "aimed for kids" style perfectly with a smash hit series receiving much acclaim and doing justice to SEED/SEED Destiny and 00's popularity.

Gundam: G no Reconguista also saw release in 2014 right alongside Gundam Build Fighters Try, but that fared even worse than AGE and got overshadowed by the latter's success.

And finally we have Gundam: Tekketsu no Orphans which was released this year (2015), it's looking quite good thus far.

Just start a new account. It's extremely easy to get started on Chaos. If you know what you're doing you'll have a 150 in a week, 175 in two or three.

Am I the only one who watched GBF because Reiji fought better unarmed? And GBF Try made it even more awesome?

Oh wait... Gundam is supposed to bait real robot fans. Except G of course.

00 is my fave right there, but the Raiser combination sequence was too long and ridiculous for my taste.

Make the Raiser wings dock at the hips instead of at the twin drives, and you got a magical mecha girl transformation.

Nadleeh was more of "muh true form" than magical girl. Unless we count it as a prototype for Kill La Kill where you transform by getting nearly naked.
