I know this is an age old request that has been brought up constantly in the past but I really enjoyed the marriage system in the original RO with my IRL wife. It gave us a goal to work towards and we still play from time to time. Now we have moved on to RO2 and are slightly upset that there isnt a marriage system in this one. If the marriage system were included in RO2 then that would be awesome.

I'm glad to see this topic come up again! I've sent ideas along about a marriage system when Jawaii was being released because they didn't have one in development at the time and thought that rather silly considering the history behind the zone! It included a quest, ceremony and marriage UI based off the guild screen that included a shared storage and skills for married couples to try to push it along. It would be great to continue discussion on what people would like to see with this system!

+9001 to this idea. My two cents on why this should be taken seriously, from my perspective as a filthy casual:

At the end of the day, RO is mostly about hanging out and interacting with the ingame community, whether that be in the form of kawaii AFK tea parties, late-night conversations, guild events, PVP, party quests/leveling, or any of the other forms of social activity. The common thread here is the shared set of experiences you form with other people -- and if you are lucky enough to find/have someone in particular with whom you want to create these memories, having the option to celebrate that friendship (or more!) should be a given. In that regard, frankly, I don't think a "Marriage System" even needs to have any unique gameplay mechanics. Simply being able to do it at all in a game-sanctioned environment or ceremony would already be enough to make many players very happy.

Being a sequel to RO, RO2's marriage system should at least have the same skillset and perks as RO's, such as being able to heal your spouse and summon them to you.

I wonder if they're going to be super weird and unprofessional again when same-sex marriage is suggested... :hmm:

That's up to the developers in Korea to decide, it's not the publishers' decision to make that change.

This is what I had put together. It covers a few issues we've talked about here and I can always add/tweak more to it. I specifically wrote it to use current functions in place in the game already for minimal new development and the quest to start it is similar to a job change quest so there would be a loophole for same sex marriage.

Definitely add suggestions! I wrote this back in march and it could very much use some dusting off :)

It wouldn't be a proper wedding without atrocious wedding fees and temporary wedding dresses and tuxedos. :U Gotta pay those invisible wedding planners.

Don't have to be overly complex. I'm sure many would be happy to just have the option to marry someone. I really hope same sex marriage is allowed as well. I bet players are gonna want baby classes that can't progress to master level - to replicate RO1. More kewt little chars besides noels? Who wouldn't want that.

Why not? There's very few MMORPGs that allow players to have kids.
