Hi people, fellows, friends, everybody, Rosearians, random strangers, noobs, staff. Today's topic is all about that lethal skill known as the Kamehameha Wave. The technique uses the latent energy in the caster's body to produce a concentrated beam of lethal and concussive force.
The critical elements of this technique are:
- the variable casting time (short to long dependent on the caster) and related variable potency
- the use of not just a flat energy cost but deeply tapping the caster's reserves (like the percentage-based Mana Shield skill)
- the conic area-effect beam form factor of the resultant energy wave.
What attracts me to it as an option in a muse's skilltree is the challenge of the variable casting time as a trade-off against the potential increased potency. The muse is charging up the attack, otherwise defenceless, relying on the team to both protect it and take down the target's hp to the point where the charged attack will finish it.
There's also the challenge of the implementation - maybe the variable mana cost as initial flat cost and additional cost for every second still in the attack.
And of course, there's the beauty and power of such an attack. it gives options that haven't existed before. Instead of fixed techniques that do more or less fixed damage (enhanced only by stats, skill power and other modifiers) the muse can give it her all, using all her mana (or even hp?) to destroy an oncoming wave of monsters. Using a line-nuke gives raiders more tactical utility as lurers. They can better position their luring in places like Sikuku Ruins or Wastelands Ruins Path to benefit the muse instead of placing her in harm's way with the use of radius aoe attacks.
So, discuss.
