Hi people, fellows, friends, everybody, Rosearians, random strangers, noobs, staff. Today's topic is all about that lethal skill known as the Kamehameha Wave. The technique uses the latent energy in the caster's body to produce a concentrated beam of lethal and concussive force.

The critical elements of this technique are:

- the variable casting time (short to long dependent on the caster) and related variable potency

- the use of not just a flat energy cost but deeply tapping the caster's reserves (like the percentage-based Mana Shield skill)

- the conic area-effect beam form factor of the resultant energy wave.

What attracts me to it as an option in a muse's skilltree is the challenge of the variable casting time as a trade-off against the potential increased potency. The muse is charging up the attack, otherwise defenceless, relying on the team to both protect it and take down the target's hp to the point where the charged attack will finish it.

There's also the challenge of the implementation - maybe the variable mana cost as initial flat cost and additional cost for every second still in the attack.

And of course, there's the beauty and power of such an attack. it gives options that haven't existed before. Instead of fixed techniques that do more or less fixed damage (enhanced only by stats, skill power and other modifiers) the muse can give it her all, using all her mana (or even hp?) to destroy an oncoming wave of monsters. Using a line-nuke gives raiders more tactical utility as lurers. They can better position their luring in places like Sikuku Ruins or Wastelands Ruins Path to benefit the muse instead of placing her in harm's way with the use of radius aoe attacks.

So, discuss.

1st off

Copyright problems

2nd off

interesting idea, but what is this parameter that it charges on?

Skills?

Damage?

Mana used?

also there's the problem of how much it can be spammed if it is a variable timer set on it.

Plus with the amount of damage 1 mage can already dish out depending on their build, mine for example can do about 7k damage to mobs in COU and sometimes equally that much on bosses while i saw someone dish out 13k damage on mobs and also sometimes the same amount on bosses

These are my concerns

Valid concerns all.

Copyright: Akira Toriyama doesn't own the rights to a straight line nuke/stun or a conical line nuke/stun, whether chargeable or not. Even a simple glance at some mobas shows that. However the specific mechanic of using variable mana costs for a chargeable line skill might ring warning bells somewhere.

Charge: I envision the spell costing x% of max mana with additional y% for every second, gaining n amount of skill power for every second charged. The posture could read as something like sitting, which gives +regen per second while seated. So the charge costs time and mana over time. (Could supplement this with a blood magic type skill that sacrifices hp for mana.. but that's off-topic). The skill icon itself will show the damage it will deal as it charges, much like how Mana Shield.

Variable timer: Mana Shield has a very short cool down combined with a percentage-based mana cost. I think we can do something like that for this ability. Spamming will generally happen vs bosses or in limited cases, PvP. Considering all the action in any average AA, there's only so much mana you can recover from mana flames, blue pots and your own passives, so actual spamming will be limited.

Nuke damage: There's a trade-off for everything. Sure, muses might get an opportunity in PvP to all unleash a wave like this just before the fight gets real, but during the action? They're meant to be doing crowd control with debuffs and burst damage. Where the skill might be considered 'overpowered' is vs Orlean kings. I like to think of the skill as the ultimate evolution of all nukes.

Sadly you couldn't aim it. It would be locked to whatever is in front of your character, and I know for a fact the game doesn't check which direction your character is facing [in terms of skill casting].

MASENKO-HA!

(This is a reference to the cast animation for wand-wielders executing Mana Bolt and similar skills.)
