Hello everyone

As you all know, Requiem has gone through some massive changes.   There have been a lot of questions and thoughts on the matter.  While we cannot say much here is a brief description as to where we are now.

1.  The Merge is complete.  However, there are some issues that need to be addressed.

  •  It appears that some characters may be missing after the merge, luckily we did make back-ups before we proceeded so we should be able to locate the previous data.  Please submit a petition via our Warpportal Support Site.   Each account will need to be addressed on a case by case basis.
  • In regards to the PVP vs PVE partying system.  That is an issue we are investigating.  At this time, however players may visit the NPC in-game to purchase a free PK Protection Remover item.  Be warned though, after the item is consumed, you will no longer be able to regain PK protection.
  • In regards to the naming issue, Trifri is the senior server so the names as stated on the website took precedence.  However, after examining the suggestions listed in previous threads we discussed the matter and have come up with a solution.  If you were on the Nova server, and would like to change your character names with your current Trifri server names, please write in a petition with the names or list of names of characters you would like to have changed and we will manually change them out.
  • Please make sure to clearly state which character names you would like changed.
  • In regards to honor points you may simply need to reinitialize and your points should shuffle in normally.

2. Class changes

  • We are still in the process of completing this.  However, at this moment the Merge has taken priority, but this is next on his agenda.  However, if you have any questions or ideas you would like to discuss in regards to the class changes you may do so on our forums or you may contact your Class Representative.

3. The New Dungeon

  • Truth be told at this time we do not have any further updates.  We are in the process of discussing quests and strategy.  The one thing I can say is that we want to make the new dungeon exceptionally challenging.  One of the major issues that comes up time and time again, is that the game itself is too easy and there is not enough content that is challenging enough.  We want to make this one different, however we won’t know till we have time to fully address it.

4.  Vox Update

  • After much effort we were finally able to pull the Vox texture and begin testing. '
    • What took so long?
      • Due to Requiem’s age, it made it a bit more challenging than just pulling the texture.  We also had some major issues through the month of December, followed by the Server Merge, and with all of our focus on the Class updates, unfortunately Voxyon got pulled back.
  • Where are we now?
    • We were finally able to pull the texture and do an alternate version.   We now have to see if everything works smoothly in the new system and see if Voxyon will cooperate.
    • We are also looking into some changes, regarding her, but they are not set in stone.
  • Why are we doing this?
    • Some players have expressed a desire to want to get involved in Requiem as more than just players.  This has been in discussion for some time, however we have not said anything till we knew what we could and could not do.  Now that we have some answers I can more accurately express some of the events we would like to do.
      •  Quest writing Events:
        • Players would have the opportunity to write in the horror we keep hearing is missing from the game.  If you ever wondered what it would be like to be an actual quest writer, this is the perfect opportunity to find out and hone your existing skills.
      • Costume Design Contests
        • Ideally we want to give players the chance to design new costumes, that will be featured in the item mall.
      • Redesign Volunteers.
        • It has come up again and again that the game looks dated.  Luckily the style of the game and the function of the game are two things that can be tackled on two different fronts.  While Helium is working on the class skills, updates, and bug reports, we can work on the cosmetic changes.
        • Most know that our resources are slim, so major changes would have to happen gradually.  Volunteers wishing to get involved in technical art can try their hand at re-texturing various models.
    • All of these are on a volunteer basis, but if someone truly wants to make a difference these are the opportunities we are hoping to present.  We have seen many of these same events in our other games and wanted to give our own community the same opportunities.

5. Which leads me to the functionality of the game.

  • We have been reading and keeping an eye on the various bug reports.  Kazara created a rather all inclusive list and we now have the Bug Submission Form to assist in further bug reports.  While we cannot guarantee any immediate action what we do hope is when the class skills slow down and we have more time to devote to each issue, we can give more updates on what has been resolve and what is still causing issues.

6. Moving Forward

  • The Christmas cards will be removed during next weeks maintenance.
  • We hope to have new items and hopefully a new dungeon sometime this year.

So... a "new dungeon" that should be "exceptionally challenging". And what does that exactly mean?

The reason the whole game has become "way too easy" and a complete farce (say, solo raids, right? or OK, maybe just with multi logging a couple of alts?) is one and only ONE. For years, you have miserably FAILED to look at the core game. Instead you merrily juggled numbers around, and provided the little happy cows with RIDICULOUS gear and trinkets, so they could be moooing with joy farming that crap day in day out, that boosted characters to semi-god mode (depending on class of course).

So yeah, poor old little Requiem then became irrelevant and "too easy". If you actually care to look into the past, you would understand what it meant to raid or even just to quest and face the world and its inhabitants. Of course, I am talking about PvE, because this is the issue at hand here.

Remember how JS was almost an impossible task? And the few who attempted it had to go through epic battles and with a very well organised party? Should I even mention ET? Should I mention how it used to be for DC (the real one, not that clown "mythic" one), Lord Wer, Biskra, hell even RH (hah, yeah, "normal" one). So what happened in the process, and all these became irrelevant?

Requiem hasn't really gotten that many updates in all those years, cap has been 90 for ages, the game has changed little. What has changed during the last couple of years, is the completely illogical (should I dare say moronic?) emphasis on providing the "player base" with blatantly OP gear and trinkets (especially) that totally demolished any kind of balance (if there ever was one). Obviously in PvP too, but it is even more clear to see in PvE.

So, now, what you plan to do? Boost the new bosses' damage by a factor of 10? Give them 10 times more HPs, +500% def and immunity to everything?. Is this how they will become "challenging"? Then of course, you would proceed to make some new "farmable" "event(s)" with "legendary hearts" or something similar, that would boost players another 20 times. So, let me see, after a while, those  "challenging dungeons" will be poop again, and solo- or multi-alt doable.

Looks like you have completely lost it and missed the target completely. You can't win in this vicious circle, no one can, it will only provide a temporary "fix" and back again to the same crap. We all know about the resources allocated to lil Requiem these days. Do you really afford to waste them in that way?

It seems the answer is yes, or probably, it is all just an excuse to masquerade the very sorry state of a sinking ship, just like Titanic where the orchestra still merrily played on. I would say, yet again, how about you try to get REAL, but of course, it won't make any good and fall on those very deaf ears.

Ah well, I guess it really doesn't matter any more, old loves die hard, but eventually they do, just like beloved lil old Requiem.

Sounds like a bad idea to make the new dungeon "challenging". The whole reason for the easy mode in general is because of the class power ups that were implemented and +30 equipment which triples the attributes of the equipment. All you will accomplish with hard mode is making the game more unreachable for the people who don't want to spend a lot of cash on equipment. It's like how the Korean devs balanced mobs expecting the player to have all the +stat items and +30 equipment. Its just... DUMB without a cash shop rebalance.

Voxyon is male.

It is not hard to get the texture out of Voxyon. All you need is nif-skope and a couple minutes if you already have the .nifs. Voxyon has a diffuse, alpha, gloss, and normal map. The first iteration of Voxyon did not make use of the normal map. Its UVs and modeling is also a mess. Lots of poles and the triangulation changes direction a lot. It consists of about 50 different overlapping sub-models which is inefficient to render and may cause rendering issue for real-time game engines since it poses a depth buffer issue.

Here is the thing I wonder about volunteers. If they prove to be more competent than existing staff, will you replace the existing staff? Also will the volunteers contributions be rewarded or even implemented? As we have experienced thus far, the dev ignores the volunteers and implement whatever the heck they want. They also usually mess up something in every minor update. When we talk about a professional level texture for a character in a video game, its a full days work worth around $200. I would hate to do something for free at the level of a professional artist for a person who does repaints to run 2 masks over it, compress it to .dds, and claim the credit.

No, but I also think that complaining won't help anyone.
