what video spam?

OP, Warlocks are as good as the player who drive them...

Most people here are going to tell you different things because that's their limitation... the best way to know more about the class is to ask people who are actually playing the class now AND have set some standards.

As of today, there are only 2 active warlocks worth naming, Kevin and I. So if you would like to get some more information, feel free to ask us.

Kevin does not come to forums but most of the "builds", "stats" and "plays" that you would see were set up by us a while ago (most people copy the good things hehe).

Just know that Warlocks are one of the weakest classes in iRO, but by weak I mean that they die easily... hence you need to find ways to avoid dying that often.

As Warlock, you can counter most things that other classes can't and depending on the build/stats, you can even be offensive and defensive at same time (Kevin and I styles).

It's not much about gears but how to get the most out of it... switching gears depending on situations, using different gears for other special skills, find ways to counter other classes w/o compromising much damage output... etc.

But like I mention before, it's all up to you to make the most out of the class.

Have fun and if you have any other question, feel free to ask away.

Take care =)

Master, please teach me! *Bows down*

:heh:

Seriously, though, I played ragnarok for more than 5 years (in bRO), but stopped playing it when renewal came out, and restarted about 4 months ago in iRO, so I don't have much knowledge nor great gears, but I am not dumb enough to compare WL to other classes, and we always seem pretty dull. I really hate how they changed the class role (HW was the main dammage source for a party, WL has -_-ty DPS, -_-ty HP and don't have as much defensive options as some other classes to compensate, though I've seen some videos of WLs tanking MVPs with WI, which few others classes can do). I used to be a Wizard main, and honestly, I'm pretty much disapointed with the Warlock Class in comparison with others like RK, Ranger and RG... and even Sorcerers make me feel ashamed of myself. So, seriously, please teach me, master, how can I become a good Warlock?

Ashuckel suggested that a good Warlock needs about 1.6 b worth of gear, but wouldn't other classes be as much or even more powerful with such High-Tier gear? What gears would be good? My set is as follow, which would roughly get near 1.4 b of items:

*+9 CoD [KK]

*Ninja Scroll

*Unfrozen Diabolus Robe (DEX+2) - bought on Black Friday for 40 M  :lv:

*+9 iFaw (Spell 14 - first enchant, still lazy to upgrade)

*+9 Superior Temporal Int Boots

*+7 TSoD Spell 4/3

*Spell 1/1 Ch. RWC Pendant [Creamy]

*Ch. RWC Ring [Scaraba Card]

*Set of Valkyrja's Shields and some Round Bucklers with racial protection cards

*+4/+4/+4/+4 Spellflow Shadow Set

*+4/+4/+4 Magical Shadow Set

What sould I prioritize to get to be a good Warlock?

1.- if you are using tsod wouldnt be more ideal to get a skull cap? even a +7 make the trick really, i mean if you want to aim higher yeah, get a +10 or above, but +7-9 make the same thing pretty much, if you want to compensate the casting time tho you will need a +10 with KK card.

2.- depending on what you want you are going to aim toward more reduction or more dmg on your faw, im a WOE warlock mainly so i carded with antique firelock, i think a pvm one will usually go for more reduction instead. Same with temporal boots, i mean, spell 5 is good actually, i have 2 temporal int for pvm, one with spell and a random last enchant, and one with runaway magic (when i really need the dmg output), i mean you are already squishy, 10% more hp will not do that much being honest.

3.- Upgrade your TSOD and combo with skull cap

4.- the card most people use for his dmg increase right now on acc are elviras (20% increase dmg on wind and ghost spells each) i have a pair on sloted RWC, because i look toward dmg and considering i can get a lot of matk i prefer %matk (with perfec enchants you can get 7% per pendant) but if you are looking for more a speed caster, spells do it fine too.

5.- for pvm having a set of shields is the best thing +1 to that xD

6.- the shadow set combo is the standard so, nothing to say about that.

:thx:  :thx:  :thx:  :thx:  :thx:

I've upgraded a lot of stuff last time Hammer was in, but I couldn't do it with the TSoD. I will try the skullcap, problem is that losing 20% of cast reduction really hurts, that's why I use the CoD. Worth a try when I have money, though.

All of the trade-offs hurt on WLs, since we are the squishiest class, have the highest casting time and the dammage output won't compensate it. It's really frustrating to cast one spell while an RK puts his dragon to spit fire (or water :P) twice. So, even if your dammage is greater, his total DPS output is way better. And rangers seem to be really OP. Don't know if it's because warlock is weak compared to them... Don't know how the two classes fare in PVP and WoE, so...

Thanks for the tips. I'll take note of everything.

And sorry for the poor english. XD

Sewasan (or Haseo, or Ash...), Double Elvira Card or Elvira + Beelzebub Card? Just planning ahead.

Thanks.

Hmm... there's a lot of concern about cast time it seems.

1st, you ca easily get 0% variable cast time reduction with stats alone, this way, you have more freedom on adding %matk gears w/o worrying about cast time at all.

2nd, PvP/WoE wise, there's several spells to counter pesky classes such as RKs, Chasers, etc. WI is way too OP for those situations due to their low ATK modifier (formula base on ATK).

3rd, Good accessories for elvira? Hmm... I have a set of geffen rings, RWC, Maelstrom something, expert ring and I usually switch depending what I'm using like for example, if I go all out with anti magic armor, I switch to 1 geffen ring and 1 RWC, DPS CL+SG I go with expert rings or rushing in I go with Maelstrom... like I say, it depends on the situation but I like the RWC for damage purposes hehe.

Take care =)

Not really mine, but I like that people use the same topic for this. I want to learn how to make my warlock better too... After seeing a little of Haseo's gears, and his videos, I know why my WL feels like -_-. There should be some kind of disclaimer when you change to mage class, in Criatura Academy, something like:

"Do you want to make a Warlock? If so, be warned that you'll need some tens of bilions zeny to make them worth playing". :heh:

No, really, no kidding. I still want to main my WL, specially because I don't have a lot of time to play, but I REALLY regret making my first character a WL.
