As the title says. Has anyone actually tried building a melee Kagerou? And how well does that fare?

elsewhere, it's better to hybrid it with something like throwing so you don't lose too much versatility.

i tried once; when im around 110, last for few weeks and then reset back to magic/throw until now. I simply doesn't have proper gear to support that build so..

One question off topic about Kunai Explosion/Splash.
Is that viable to level with it before level 110? And which weapon should I use?

as of now, explosion and splash have different weapon/gear setup.
kunai explosion is considered ranged, and its damage around 110 is quite low and the AoE is just too small.
kunai splash is considered melee (future update makes it ranged), and it's pretty kunai-heavy even after you invest a lot of STR and gym passes. future updates (idk if it's kRO or jRO tho) will have kunai quiver so we can carry more.
so at the moment i'd say stick with huuma and do swirling petal build, or reset to magic. melee is okay but not any better than doing kunai explosion. after you're a lot higher like 130 or 140, kunai explosion damage should be okay.

Thanks for the answer.
Actually I'm returning to iRO this week (still trying to make it work) and I don't remember which build I was using on my Kagerou. I think it is a hybrid build (Magic + Huuma) but the very last time I played a friend told me that would be better to focus on one build (Huuma/Kunai or Magic) and create another Kagerou later. Is that a good idea?

long version:
it boils down to your budget and stat/skill distribution at 99/100 (right before leaving low TI).
my 150 kagero's stats, for example, was a hybrid of all three, I can do melee/throw/magic as long as i'm using the proper gear.
as for leveling, you should focus on an aspect. my level 100 oboro got 80ish INT/VIT/DEX so I maximize FAW potency and do a magic build. my level 125 Kagero got 80ish STR/INT/VIT/DEX so I can start switch around between magic gears and throwing gears.
for instance, you want to level at TI, and this week it has a mixed element. you can go with huuma and solo. but the next week TI is severely hard to solo and you choose to level at scarab, you can swap to magic gears and start watching the world burn. the next day you feel like MvPing, take your DD throwing gears and kunai splash the mobs, finish the MvP with kunai explosion.
note that magic build can easily overpower huuma throwing once you have the budget. by then huuma throwing gets more expensive than magic. if you're on tight budget then huuma throwing is the easiest way to work with.

I've decided to go with a Throw/Magic build (Geareint helped me xD)
For while I leveling at Nogg (level 105) using SP and my only problem there are the Nightmare Terror due to the element. (I'm hunting there with Earth Charm + Water Conversor)
I'm aiming to get all 4 charms now (only have Earth) and then KE/KS.
My budget is kinda... limited.
I only have 150m on zeny and, worth mention, a +7 HBP and a +4 Rideword Hat

what's inside your HBP? if it's clean, slot it with a raydric card, or better yet, sell it and buy a +9 immune HBP. with your budget I think it should suffice.

i don't think i have enough for Evil Marching Hat for while. My RWH I was using on other characters actually.
It might be a good idea to sell my HBP and get a +9 Immune. I could use it on my Guns as well, I think.

I don't think a pure melee build is really viable, but since every melee character is forced to get a lot of Dex anyway(unless you're making a crappy, boring as hell crit sin), there's nothing getting in the way of you making a melee/Kunai build, so that's what you should do(Kunai will be mainly for AOE bombing mobs, while every other situation, is pretty much melee)
You'll want to still spend most of the skill points on the melee skills, only get the most important Kunai skills.
