Hi, I am just starting out this game a couple weeks ago. Last time I played was back in 2005. Now I only play FS AB and nothing else. I just got to 150/50, and I am interested in joining WoE Guild, but I can't really afford WoE set as suggested in the forum.

 

Is the WoE set really that mandatory? Or it just keeps me alive for a couple second longer? Will I get keep getting one hit kill if I just wear Thara frog + Firearmor? That's really all I can afford right now, and I don't have a lot of time grinding for 500M set gear.

 

Right now I have:

Abysmal Knight Heim w/ Willow Card

Unfrozen Fire armor

Bellum Bible

Tharafrog + Valk shield

Variant Shoe

Raydric Muffler

Light of Cure and Waterdrop booch w/ Smokie Card

Yes, without woe set, you will die almost instantly to basically anything.

Fire armor will get you killed by water db.

 

Woe sets are nowhere near 500m, you can pick up each piece off ragial for about 2-5m each. You don't really need to upgrade them save getting the robe to +6 for the 15% ranged damage reduction to benefit from the set.

So I guess these gears would be a good starter pack, so that I will be useful in WoE.  Maybe getting +6 Aqua WoE Robe later

These probably run around 200M. I guess I will sell some 2000KP to get these gears. Hard to get zeny as an AB lol.

Water armor will get you killed really fast by Chain Lightning and wind converted attacks :c
Besides, this setup doesnt have 100def for freezing immunity, so you will probably have to stick to Marc carded armor to be immune to freeze.

Yes, very important. Even with WoE set, half the time im praying that the enemy Sura is either going to pick on the other guy next to me first, have crappy gears in general so I survive the GOH/TC/GF or they get killed off before they have a chance to click on me. WoE is a survival battle for AB's

I don't think 100mdef set is a requirement right? It's just a bit nicer, right? It's too expensive for any average/casual/newer player. I play RO for social experience, and I don't have time to grind for over 1.5B zeny let alone throwing tons of money at it by selling KPs. 

 

On the side note though, I notice that the economy runs by the bots. They seem to make all the zeny, and the newer legit players ended up having to buy few KPs just to get started. Even the cheapest char you're probably looking at around 100M to get by. It's so frustrating to play just on Eden gear, and you keep wasting all your hard earned zeny on bot-farmed straws and pots. Without selling some KP to get started, it's a huge grind fest and hardly fun for anyone to play. I am also starting to regret dropping $100 on mall points + VIP now realizing how expensive and gear dependent this game is lol.

 

Maybe WoE TE is where I belong.  I heard they restricted overpowered items and favor more team strategy than gear checks.

Yeah you don't need 100 mdef. If you don't have an upgraded unfrozen shadow set just use a +6 unfrozen woe robe. There's so many elements flying around woe these days that the only elemental armors worth using are angeling and ghostring. The other ones will just get you killed from random converted skills. Its only if you're planning on using a non-marc carded woe robe that you need to worry about 100 mdef or a +30 unfrozen shadow set.

Most effective set up = Holy Armor + 100MDEF (When fighting Suras it become Ghost Armor)

Just Viable set up = Unfrozen Armor + WoE Set

I just WoE yesterday wearing a full WoE set at 170/52. 100 INT 100 VIT 100 AGI stats. I kept getting one shotted by almost anything ranged, especially when I am out of pneuma. Melee is certainly instant death, but if the other guild get to me there's bigger issue to worry about lol. I have around 25-28K HP. Here is my gear:

Blush Incubus

+9 Unfrozen WoE Robe

Long Mace / +6Bellum Bible

+4 Cranial Valkshield

Anti Sniping WoE Muffler

+9 Supieror WoE Shoe

2x Waterdrop brooch + Alligator / Smokie

​AS out of pneuma = Dead

DB Spam out of penuma = Dead (2-3 times)

Sura next to me =  Dead

Pretty much anything= instant dead lol!

 

Is other AB having some same issue?  I feel like I better off wearing undead armor and call it a day. It appears that my survivability solely relies on pneuma and gears hardly make that much different. I could be spending hundreds of million more for the extra few % reduction, but I don't think that would make me survive 10 seconds longer. Am I missing something here?  I feel like I'd rather wear PVM set, so I can cast 2-3x times faster and being 2-3x more useful, as long as I keep myself pneuma and stay back.

Welcome to the world of AB'ing, where everything aside from an enemy support Priest is potentially lethal and no matter how much reduction you stack on, some other guys gonna kill you. Trust me, we have all been there, done that.

Seems like PVM gear will probably do just as well or even better for instant cast. I guess I will try next WoE using only PVM gear + undead WoE robe, and see if there's a noticable different on how fast I die. Really need stone immunity as it rendered me useless. If I only die a subsecond faster, I probably best sell all my WoE set, save $$$$$ for another character I suppose.

don't wear undead armor, you'll drop to db even faster. get a hankie in mouth and aim for a high upgrade stamina rpb. put more points in vit along with a few more levels and it'll get a lot better. keep pneuma on yourself at all times, make sure you stay with your guild and if you find yourself in a sticky situation (e.g. sura next to you) hide then speed pot away quickly. as long as you stay inside your stack you shouldn't be dying too often.

ab has low base hp pool and modifier, 110 vit might be minimum for woe, a lot go for 120-130.

 

vit food i think is a must, as well as all other hp mods and gears

bungisngis, vit essence 3, hp increase potion, friggs, lutie, etc.
