I don't celebrate as I'm not religious, but I like Easter because it means cheap chocolate mini eggs the week after. B) what's not to like?

Couldn't agree more. We recently adapted Easter egg events and during this events, chocolate mini eggs are coveted souvenirs by children too and... "kid's at heart"

so fun to watch.

For some religious stuff, I say it gets bloodier on the streets as Good Friday comes near.  :wah:

You mean because of the Passion Re-enactments?  I've read that in Phillipines they can be pretty realistic on the flogging and crucifixion.

Here in Mexico City, the municipality of Iztapalapa performs a big Passion Play and the actor playing Jesus has to prepare one year in advance to withstand the punishments and to carry the cross (around 90 kg) for about 4 km!

(Bonus: there's a non canonical performance of belly dancers as King Herod's harem)

Very Realistic, it's in our area. They really nailed their hands on the cross. They want to repent on one day, and after that they'll be back on their vices. What a bunch of fools.

harsh man, I've watched a man(just on tv) that made it his yearly thing right? cause he prayed that his son/daughter be cured of his/her illness then his penance will be that he be crucified, reenacting jesus' hardships(i guess). and they show the nail he use every year, damn it's like a 4" nail, just imagining getting impaled with that on your palms man. don't know what he does regularly though haha

Yeah that's right. Passion and Penitence. Flogging and crucifixion are real and I still don't know how do they withstand it, surely its from practice and devotion as they say.

Passion Play are widespread here too! and being set during the scorching noon till 3 of Good Friday. But good thing in your country, the actors has a long way to practice.

We don't have belly dancers during this event and I think it won't happen since they'll be scolded by elders or religious leaders first or quickly cloth you with anything they have :blaugh:

Oh really? Did you watched our local documentary about that? Did your Jesus tell them to do that? I'm sorry for saying that they're fools, hypocrites were the right term.

I lived in Pampanga, so I know.

to each his own man, Albert Einstein was considered almost insane because of his genius and was misunderstood. no need to be agitated about these things, its like our own views with religion, in the end we conform to wherever/whomever/whatever we feel at peace.

You completely missed my point haha and i'm not using him as an excuse, i'm just siting him as an example that in his time, he's almost considered insane because of his genuis, that they cannot completely comprehend what is the process of his thinking, just like galileo in his time. Same as different religions, some say eating pork is vile, killing a certain animal is bad, some do weird stuff like sacrificing lifestock or whatnot. All i'm saying is, we are not in the position to judge other people just because we do not believe in their beliefs, unless it is against the law of men, like cannibalism, murder, and the like

I actually didn't think I'd have an offensive reply over my post, I really tried to soften my words back there so why the directly offensive shot-firing comeback?

So it's true, religious posts lead to a lot of offensive remarks lol

Still no lol

Btw I'm not going to judge that's not my job lol. I just don't understand why your doing it. I don't think that's anywhere in the bible or maybe it's your version of it. Either way that's one weird tradition.

These traditions are cultural aspects. Definitely, there things that seem fine to one culture and look weird to some. Beliefs are subjective as well. Whatever things they do in their bodies, we don't have the right to judge them. We don't know what's going on in their lives, and their reasons for doing it. Just accept the fact that there are things we won't ever understand.

Just saying Circumcision is a commandment not a tradition. ^.^

Traditions doesn't always tie up with religion. Just to let you know, in the case of circumcision, it is always regarded as more of a mere tradition, basically a "rite of passage" from childhood to puberty (secondly, a medical/hygienic practice) in the Philippines rather than being "biblical". If you ask Filipino men and children about circumcision, they will most probably tell you it's a sign of manhood, maturity and bravery rather than being a "commandment" as written in the Bible.

uhh yea...sure since thats ur opinion and belief system. Which i have no problems with it. Just putting it out there that commandments in a religious view doesn't equal tradition.
