Is it possible to have a notification before a patch starts downloading?

It should tell you the patch size and whether you want to download it now or not.

Or is there currently a way of doing this?

Would appreciate a response, thanks :)

I think it has always been forced update.

You are forced to update your client to match what's updated on the server-side.

Yeah, it'd be nice if the patch size is indicated before the download starts

In other words,

Patcher: [Prompt] A new version is available for Download. [Size] Would you like to close Clients Running and Start Patching?:

Yes - Close Clients, Run patching process.
No - [Prompt] You cannot start the client without patching, are you sure you want to cancel?:

Yes - Close Patcher

No - Revert to patch [Prompt] A new version..;

Should be simple. I suppose.

I do like the fact that it forces you to close all clients before you patch.  That eliminates a lot of potential problems and I don't think that should be changed.

But knowing up front the patch size seems like it would be an alright idea. Wouldn't change anything for me personally but it might be important sometimes (like if someone else in the house is in the middle of a big download and using the bandwidth)

Yes! Exactly like that, thank you Feuer!

It's important for some people. In the Philippines for example, if I exceed the data cap of my broadband plan, I will pay extra so it's important for me to know if I can use my own internet to download the patch... or go to a local Starbucks and leech like a female dog. Ehe ehe

Ram's suggestion on patch size is good, especially when we use 3G network to play.

Anyway, I remember sometimes maintenance is carried out without disconnecting the players who are ingame.

I think this is, in the future, should be the same to other maintenance events: Force close the client or redirect to login screen

Because who knows, someone might take advantage of this & keep buying something in the IM, which is supposed to be removed already.
