Hi, I'm a new player in IRO and I need some guide about geneticist, I not familiar with this class just knowing which is a Mvp-killer. I want to do better in MVP-ing, but don't want to invest a lots, is that works? Since all the guides recommind expensive gear, like +9 +12 gear, and I don't even understand those gear's short name.

However, 5000-10000kp is considerable, and I'm looking for an effective way to spend that Kp, since I still interest in other classes so not sure want to put all the investment in one char.

I don't know if I express my idea clearly since English is not my native language, and this post may have a lot of gramma mistake, if you don't mind correct me plz:D

Finally, thanks for attention.

10,000KP won't be enough to gear a Gene, especially if you're selling the KP too quickly.

This game is expensive to your budget and time. It is designed around gambling with your real money, when it comes to upgrading, enchanting, and random boxes. They design in a way that will suck up all the money in your wallet if you're not careful. Enriched Hammer, Kitcoin boxes, RWC enchantments, Lucky boxes, etc etc you name it.  If you have time, I wouldn't rush selling those KP. You can sell them quickly at 10m/100KP, but that's an extremely bad deal for your money.

If you're not in a rush, you can gradually sell them at 12-13m per 100KP, especially during Enriched Event. You don't need more than 100-300m to get just a decent gear to level up your Gene to 150. You can go to Eden and get free Eden gears, that will suffice until lvl 125 or so. Spare few M during then to buy consumables for leveling up.

Fire Sale boxes are generally bang for the bucks as for as zeny goes, as long as you wait for a month or so. Last month it was 1500KP, you get safe to ten certs (now selling around 180m, but you also get 5 different items worth around 30-100m.  So in theory that 1500KP gave you roughly 400-800m, comparing to the 5000KP you would use from selling rush. So you could potentially be getting 3-5B than measly 1-1.2B from that 10,000KP you just flushed your hard earned money into the toilet.

For gears, anything more than a +9 is a waste of your money in general. It cost significantly more than +9 counterpart (usually from 250m to 1B), while the benefits barely adds up to the extra cost. There are a lot of guides out there for gene, but you should just take it as a recommendation. Usually they post extremely expensive gears and there are much more cost effective alternative that are almost just as good. It's RPG game, and you should be the one building your character =)

Gene can basically do some MVPs naked, so you should be fine as long as you don't have competition. With lower end gear you can do phreeoni, maya, moonlight, orc hero, orc lord even as biochemist. You really need a +9 3xAS RTE, orleans gown, 2x silversmith bracelet[scaraba] and some other decent gears you can mostly just find, all that should only be around 150m

I would wait until you see the drop rate on those lucky boxes. From my experience, it sometimes better to buy off other players at the cheap/rush price than actually opening them, if you have the zeny of course. Last month box was horrible. A lot of trash costumes and the drop rate were horrible on anything decent.

Fire Sale box are usually on sale on an unspecified weekend. The content of the box is usually unknown. Not all fire sale box are worth the price. It's really come down to your market and game knowledge to know what to buy and what not to buy at this point. Sometimes the firesales were only 500KP, and the 9 out of 10 items in there are complete trash.

It's also crucial to know how liquid each items are also. You can have an item worth billions, but it could take you months just to sell it since it's not a very popular item. Heroic Backpacks are generally on sale on those Firesale boxes, and they are usually bang for the buck. HBP also sells really quickly due to high demand from every newer players.

Here is my personaly opinion on this month's lucky box. I would wait for drop rate first, sometimes it does seem like they put the trash item at 50% rate to leech more money from your wallet lol.  Though a lot of items do seem to have decent items for zeny if you're hoping for around at 100KP/12-13m later. I am still only 2 months playing this game, so my knowledge can be limited sometimes.

Crown of Deceit  -- huge waste of KP, Trash

CD In Mouth   --  Decent. Very liquid and can be sold some profit later on 45-60m. Very popular among AGI/auto cast build.

Costume: Jack Castle Bat  --  Somewhat break even later on..  Costumes are not really liquid when it comes to zeny.

Costume: Devoted Eyes   -- Somewhat break even with some profit. Not very liquid. You can use it for a bit cheaper gamble on Kitcoin enchantment, and hope to get aspd stone (400-500M). Note that you will lose BIG if you get any other stones except the aspd one lol.

Fallen Angel Wings    -- You hit the jackpot  -- Easily 200-250m few months from now

2000x Prize Medals  --Jackpot if you're looking to build several character. 2000 medal will almost instantly get you to lvl 99/70 with BMX3 and Costume Goggle.

6x HE Bubble Gum   --  Huge waste of KP, complete Trash.

5x Bloody Dead Branch   -- Pretty good deal consider how liquid it is, and the price is usually around 8-8.25m.

There are a lot of decent items here on this month box, but don't expect huge profit unless you hit the jackpot (FAW). It also depends on the drop rate I can't tell you if it's a good deal. Some of these items may flunk in price later, but from my observation so far. Popular / highly liquid items do  tend to make good profit a couple months later.  I wouldn't burn through all of your KP on this box. Maybe Firesale box could be just as good as last month, despite how everybody was complaining how bad it was.

Didn't I just tell you not to spend all your KP on this crazy gamble lol? They design the system similar to casino, and people going to keep burning through their dollars just to get that awfully low rate FAW if they are not careful (more money to them). Also noted that they never disclose the odds of each item, and leaving the buyers assume that each item come out at an even rate. You should have look at the drop rate and decide whether it was a good deal or not. Frankly looking at your data, I wouldn't even buy more than 5 boxes to begin with, and mostly just for that 2000 prize medal.

Anyways, don't sell anything yet at all. You need to wait 1-2 month or so before you can sell them at a reasonable price. BB can be sold around 8m, the costume easily 40-50m later. Medal is used to level your character. Hold FAW for a few more months and it wiil sell like 300m or 600m if you get it to +9 (More $$$ to burn through). FAW only comes once a year in April. Price will definitely hike.

The ASPD costume has even lower rate than the lucky box. If you gamble your costume away and keep feeding $$$ into the toilet. As a fellow consumer, your habit has demonstrated that you are easily suckered into this type of scheme, and I strongly recommend you might as well quit and play something else for the sake of your budget. Games are supposed to be fun and social, not a gambling ring lol.

For prize medal, it's better to used them for leveling. You need to have costume goggle and BMX3 to maximize its efficiency. Anything else that trade for prize medal is a huge waste of money. I recommend saving them for now, you may want a farming character later. You will definitely appreciate the instant 99/70 character, especially for class that can't solo very well like a brewer or a priest. My recommendation for farming char would be a ranger, since it's dirt cheap to get decent setup.

it is very nice to hear your kindly remain, I feel so warm, and the bad mood is gone. What is done is done, I'll never do such gamble again. But I still want to play this game and willing to spend a few money to skip the long term farming part, and considering which classes can better soloing MVP and dungeon.  RK or sinX?   genetictis? sura? ranger? what would you recommend

Before you even pick the class, here is what I think you should consider:

It sounds like you're wanting to make RO a single player game by soloing everything. You seem to hate the grind and time commitment required by RO, based off your willingness to pay your way to skip them. S0 what is your reason behind playing iRO server then, especially as a soloist? The rates are horrible and you'll be grinding days in and days out to gear up and level. You already blew a hundred buck away and that will hardly gear a high end character. Have you considered other servers that may have better rates, you will likely be able to make more build and explore more character and gears to solo many other MvP in a reasonable amount of time and budget?

The benefits of iRO over any other official servers are really come down to the player base and variety of the community. You slowly build and grind your character while getting to know people in the community.  Forming TI parties, chatting around, joining a guild, that's really the fun part about RO. Some people find the challenge of taking years to slowly gear their character rewarding. It's a huuuge waste of money and time if your goal is to be the best soloist next week in an official server who can put the biggest number amount of damage. These people spent thousands of dollars on their setup or worst, spent countless hours grinding just to get to that point, costing even more in term of dollar per hours at minimum wages.

Anyways back the point, if you just want to enjoy the challenge of having to gear up to MvP in a low rate iRO servers. Then I would choose a Gene over any other class. The class is has a lot of customization, a lot of progression, and it's not  that gear dependent like many other classes. The consumables are cheap thanks to bot and you will enjoy outputting 2-500k damage a second on 800m gear than seeing that other classes struggling with their 5B+ gears. Some say they sold their soul away to the devil earn those gears, but who am I to judge.

Amazing, I never thought I will meet such a wise man like you in game forum, your comments are highly thoughtful which reminded me the reason why I'm playing this game.

I left RO in China server more than ten years which time I still a kid and the 2nd transcendent classes don't even have the decent clothing, not mention to 3th classes, and I didn't have the completed game play experience since that time I can't even reach 99lv, nor to kill any MVPs. But I did really have fun with my friends and we are just 1st classes party, leveling together in Payon Cave.

Can you believe that? which is the reason why I love RO and this game are amzaing, before the bot army took over it.

Now, I come back as a growth man to IRO, may just want to recall the memory because every thing is change, my friends were gone and I'm not longer a child who can spend a lots of time to playing a game everyday, it's kinda a waste of time, but i wish I could since I don't want to grow up.

Anyway, I find the reason why I'm still want to play RO which is to have fun. And I did, like doing the low TI quest, and asking for help in game or in forum like this, and now I'm thinking about making a SC to join WOE after I have a decent char to farm but I will do it slowly, and I gotta level up in real life which I almost forget.

Finally, thank you for your time and comments.

Woah so much advise in one topic. Back to topic!

I believe it's all dependant on your budget for gears/consumables and play style before deciding to make a character. Make sure you know what you like before committing gears (especially expensive ones). And don't be afraid to try classes out or speak to people in game.

Once you leveled, it's a good idea to go to the Turn-In map to see how other classes are doing, their skills etc and how stronk/weak they are. Then again, this requires you to get to Mid TI level first as low ti is mostly 2nd job trans. Or just watch some youtube videos of how people MvP with certain classes.

There are great classes for AOE like ranger/rebellion, but they fall off mvping to other classes like gene/gx due to being one shotted by mvp skills without elemental armor.

I wouldn't recommend RK's for PvM simply due to the cost to gear it versus potential damage output (most expensive class imo to be effective). GX is great, but kinda rubbish without certain gears with are quite expensive. Ranger, is nice for leveling, semi-decent for mvp. Gene, stinks to level. Stinks to level the homunculus even more. But awesome damage once you're high level enough, decent aoe and best spammable single target skill.

Also, don't be afraid to make mistakes :D. I started off as a knight > ranger > gene > gene > gx > ab > sura

can sura do mvp?

I started as Spiner>Sage>Crusader>Kinght>gene haha

I would like to try GX, but all the Mvp-GX guide in this forums is DD Crit, it very expensive and need Drake Crad...I'm wondering is Katra GX is far weaker than DD Crit in Mvping?

My GX doesn't have any MVP cards and it is my farmer character. I can farm instances and make a bunch of zeny with it. I took a similar approach as you, I started with RG>Gene>Ranger>GX>RK and the easiest of them all is without a doubt the GX.

You can make tons of zeny with it and have a lot of fun. I am now playing my Gene more but that is because I can somewhat support it now.

Might be offtopic, but I'll post my gx doing fw here. My gx is pure RC, designed to farm instances only. It probably can't even touch mvps like mistress when she powers up. Funny, all instances mvp does not have agi up.

Sura can mvp, but requires really expensive gears (more than gene) to be effective. It's more like a one shot or lose when you're competing with others with similar budget of a different class. One more thing is sura sucks for instances, maybe the only exception is that it's a required class in ET if the gene ain't rich.

Though expensive, RK is probably one of the most balanced class in the game in my opinion. Lots of variety in builds, no OP skills, and a LOT of gear customization. RK can solo, but it's better as DPS AOE support. Tao Gunka Card is a curse to RK really. They had to balance the entire class based on that card alone, and it gimped out the rest of the non-tao DB RKs. Average geared DB RK under party buffs is just as effective or more than any other class. The sword / rune build RK are very too expensive per damage output per cost. But that applies to almost any melee class, if you look at Axe Mechanic also.

RO was used to be a game about partying and class synergies. No OP one hit one shot win skills. Used to take 20+ people to kill Morroc. Now a dude can camp solo it. I don't know what happened to all that.

I guess memories are always better than the current state of the game. Maybe that's what keep people playing til today. The old days when you form 6 man party with crap gears to Glast Heim to hunt some raydric was really exciting. 2 Knights for melee, Black Smith for buffs + carry loots, Priest for Aspersio, Hunter for DPS support. Wizzard for crown control / Ice wall. Good times.
