I have been trying to see if a Frost Nova and LoV combo might be good for hunting things like Desert Wolfs but have been having a bit of trouble getting solid information on it.

#1: What is Frost Nova's Cast time. I know it says 6 seconds at level 1 and 4 seconds at level 10 but are these accurate times? Also is the CT all Variable or is it part fixed?

#2: What is the actual Area of Effect (AoE) of this spell? IROWiki says 2 different things. on the quick overview of spells it says it has a 7*7 AoE but in detailed description is says 5*5. I know it's only 1 square in each direction more but it is kind of important.


If anyone has ever used this please let me know. I am a Wiz and usually level solo so would kind of like to have this for a mob leveling option. Another place I think it might be good is in Nog Road or Volcano. Wouldn't be forced to use FN and LoV either could use FN and JT instead to deal more damage a lot more safely.

About Frost Nova... Its cast time is fast, very fast. The AoE is indeed 7x7. A better combo than FN and LoV is FN and Thunderstorm (yes, the magician skill).

Frost Nova, more than an offensive skill, it's oriented to a defensive skill. Usefull when you are in Safety Wall with a mob around you.

Hmm not sure why you say FN & TS would be a better combo than FN & JT or LoV. I think JT is best because it doesn't release all the guys at ounce so they can mob u again and lets u take them out one at a time. Also most Mages going Wizard do not get more than 1 in Thunder Storm I think, and usually only get the 4 in Lightning Bolt due to the fact that Jupitel and LoV are better versions of both.

As well I actually just put 10 points into Frost Nova now and I have to say that I am really disappointed. I mean a 7*7 area should mean a radius of 3 squares in any direction from u. But for some reason I never hit anything unless it's right next to me and already hitting me. Then for some reason the guys sometimes get 2 hits at ounce. The picture they have for it on IW seems to be a picture of Frost Diver not Nova just without the char doing the pointing stance. Another little annoying thing is that the skill has no discernible graphic really to give u an idea of it's AoE.


To bad I used my Reset on this. Well I guess it's a tiny bit better than the MS I had, plus I save 2 points not getting worthless Sight Rasher.
