I would like to start by saying that I really enjoy playing Ragnarok in my down time and/or after work and play it all the time, I am also VIP and buy WP regularly. I would also like my wife and my son to play at some point but seeing the name of the skill of the class I like to play, Geneticist, I am a little concern of letting them see the name of this skill or even let them play the game. 

 

I feel like my wife and son would not only not play the game but they would probably ask me to stop playing the game. I have been playing the game for about 2 years now in iRO

 

The name of the skill that I am referring to is "Demonic Fire".

 

I am not sure how many people are out there that feel this way but using such a strong word such as "Demonic" Fire is a bit too much.

 

My proposal is that we change the name of the skill to a more neutral name, such as "Melting Fire" or "Devastation Fire" hopefully you get the point...

 

This would allow for people with strong Christian beliefs play the game as well.

 

Anyway, I hope my request is considered.

i had a friend from vietnam. he hates every item, mobs or things in iRO related to dark and cursed. i got many free stuffs from him such as unholy touch, cursed waters. when evil druid was in TI, he didnt step his foot to it, hahahaha....

But what about the fact that the game is based around norse mythology and they worship Freyja and Odin and whatnot... So... wouldn't that technically be a problem too?

The story doesn't bother me and the references they make don't either. I rarely play for the story at all anyway, I play because it is a fun game, gameplay wise.

 

my problem is with "me" using a "skill" where I would need to say something to the effect of "use" "demonic" fire to my son or to my wife, if they want to use that skill, or if I want to use it.

 

The game should be neutral in that aspect..... It would be nice if they can just rename it to something more neutral/ or interesting without the reference to something being demonic.

This questions really does remind me of aRO (that server closed down a couple of years ago though)...

 

Can't they just see "Demonic Fire" as the Genetic class having such strong holy powers, that they can temporarily tame a demon (thus temporarily making it good ) to use fire for them?

The skills are named as such because they're part of the game's lore, which is centered around paganism. You're playing the wrong game if you're looking for a more Christian-friendly game. I would think your family would be more concerned with the fact you're playing a game based on paganism than just using a mere skill that taps into demonic energies.

Considering we have a whole category of monsters labeled as demons, what would you suggest that be converted into? Anti-angels?

Please understand, the monsters are fine with me. I kill them anyway, so no issues there. The issue is when I, me, myself needs to press a button that says Demonic Fire.

You don't really have much of a leg to stand on considering the Alchemist job class contributes to the creation of life, which goes against Christian beliefs, last I checked.
