Has anyone tried the Gigantic Lance?  I don't think the formula on irowiki is complete regarding Clashing spiral so I can't make an assumption on the damage.  Found this picture from like 5 years ago but not entirely sure it's accurate.

Trivial note: Gigantic lance works the same way as the salvage cape, unequipping and re-equipping it voids the cooldown.

So, I tried this out today. Using no gear other than a cardo and with 120 base STR, I did 15.5k on CS. Using no gear other than a gigantic lance, I did 35.4k on CS.

Swapping gigantic lance with cardo and back did not remove the cool down, but did take all my SP.

Verdict: not worth.

I'm not sure if the 300 attack being wATK over eATK would make enough of a difference given the cool down to redeem it, save for being able to have more enemies to one-shot during early leveling... which is moot, considering you can't use it until base level 140.

If it wasn't for the SP drain, I'd guess it'd be OK to use for a Hundred spear->CS rotation.  But how pathetic.  O well..thanks for the test

Considering u reach the 120 base str, thurizas rune, +20 str food and job bonuses/vip buffs, you get like 180+ total str, wich is 90% bonus weapon base damage. On a 10 atk weapon, its 9. If it was 300 atk, would be 270 atk.

You are correct, that would come out to about 2k extra damage per hit (570 x 3.5 = 1995) for a total of 45k damage, and then the extra % mods one can stack would raise that further... but it would still be with a 20 second cool down.

As it currently stands, using a normal cardo, you do about 40% the damage of the giant lance... but you'd be able to cast it about 6 times (cast time = 1sec, cast delay = 2sec), and would not lose 600sp per time you rotate the weapon out to get a hundred spears in, or whatever else.

I dunno, overall its a failed weapon, even without the ridiculous weapon atk penalty.

it is designed for single target burst damage, rather than single target continously spammed button..
would be nice if it is under gloomy shyness, and other mods to maximize its damage...
well, crush strike is better, but hey, this is called an alternatife play style

I don't think I'd call casting one skill every 3 seconds "spamming", but yes, it is very much an alternate play style.

Presumably, one would be able to one-shot most monsters up to level 130 with the giant lance... but only every 20 seconds. I think you'd be better off just casting IB->WC->IB and killing a whole mob in the 3-4 seconds that would take.
