How the hell does random low life smugglers just kidnap a king by accident? The Royal Guard sucks.

Well, with 16.1 We now know that Freya's minions succeeded and took the heart, leaving only the little shard in Rune Midgards' crown: Tera Gloria.
Question now is, if it has been stated that every fragment has the chance to grow into a complete heart, why did the Midgards' royalty didn't use the shard they had left?
Considering that the piece in Tera Gloria never grew into a full heart it could because it was the shard of a fragment or...the growing process has to be jumpstarted by someone/something else.

Maybe because, according to 16.1, they didn't know that the true heart had been stolen?
Also, now Terra Gloria has been stolen as well.

I mean the Royal Families from the timeline when the theft took place.

I am very sure the heart of Ymir in Juno is a genuine one. As Juno Varmundt has implied to the effect he used the Heart of Ymir as the base idea of his research, which led to the creation of the 'Rune Stone' which functions exactly like the Heart of Ymir (to the point it even allowed people to ascend to the halls of valhall for rebirth with the valkyrie).
