So I've decided to level my vender blacksmith because of the EXP event and its now near being a Mechanic.

Basically, I wanted to ask some questions as a rule of thumb on how to build a Hybrid Axe Tornado/Arm Cannon Mechanic, and about some certain skills that I have a bit of confusion about.

1. At level 99, what should be my general stat outline would look like?

I'm planning on taking Axe Tornado first before taking points towards Arm Cannon which is probably what like others would do. Does investing in highly in VIT increase Axe Tornado's damage noticeably or should I focus on other stat like STR for damage/ DEX for hit?

My current build is :

Level 90 with lots of spare points and have magical stones ready for reset at anytime.

STR 50

AGI 50

VIT 1

INT 1

DEX 60

LUK 1

2. I've been reading about the Blacksmith, Mastersmith and Mechanic skills and I've got a few questions about them.

First of all is about Power Maximise. I know that the skill disables SP regen but does it work like bloodsucker where I can nullify the disabled SP regen by equipping Arc Angeling Card?

Second is about the skills castable while in Mado. Madogear, in IROwiki, shows that certain skills are not useable or useless when in Madogear such as Adrenaline Rush and other equipment-given abilities. Does this mean all others are useable such as HSCR, Cart Boost and Maximum Power Thrust?

Third and last is about Cart Boost and movement stacking. Is it castable while in Mado and stacks with Accelerate skill? stacks with Hover?

3. Since I wanted to build an Axe/Mado Hybrid, do you recommend investing in Lava Flow skill for instances when I'm not in Mado (after suicidal destruction which could be my "Oh -.-" button)?

Lava Flow stacks insanely nice w/ axe tornado. Enemies get burned and take damage over time, and the aoe itself also creates waves of damage. I recommend it.

Cart Boost doesnt stack with any movement-increasing buff/skill/proc/effect. It only lets you move quicker if you dont already have agi up or windwalker. It's only other use is to serve as a buff requirement for using HSCR.

cant tell ya anything about mados though. not a fan.

You can only use mechanic skills + greed in a mado. You can't even use identify item in a mado. Strangely, remodel mainframe apparently is supposed to still give you the hard defense boost when not in a mado, so at least there's that. Too bad the bonus atk from license doesn't stack.

I'd recommend not going hybrid mado/axe. Pick whichever you think is more to your style. I was full mado build but reset as soon as a tornado axe dropped for me. I have literally 0 regrets doing that, as the idea of spamming cool down and magic gear fuel for the rest of my leveling days sounds as unappealing as double-attack leveling a shadow chaser to 175.

Mado is still good, just not my style, and with how badly they get shafted by the base rules of their skills, I didn't find them fun so much as interesting in concept.

FYI, you'll be able to max your axe skills + lava flow and still have points left over for a few mado skills, so I guess you could theoretically ride around in one and be primarily a phys/axe build. I guess you could go in for an early SD and then melee after, hehe.

-snip-

I misread about that part. Truly disappointing, although I dont know if Axe Tornado still deals good damage while in Mado since it does say from irowiki that its castable while in Mado(?).

My skill build doesnt seem to be going to change much except for getting and maxing Lava Flow since I do see myself being out of Mado for most of the time.

One more question, does using Wind Elemental Converters increase damage of Axe Tornado even though equipped item is not? (I'm currently using Light Epsilon)

Btw, have any of you tried Power Maximise with Arc Angeling Card? I was planning on using the skill for auto-attacks on less mobbed areas, and the card to help regain sp with my Rideword Hat.

Yes, wind converter/endow/mild wind works.

In a mado, you get the bonus attack from the license passive skill, but you cannot use weapon perfection and overthrust, which IMO are mandatory for axe skills, as the size mod is a big deal and 25% on a high atk weapon like an axe is also huge. Nevermind the maximum power thrust skill for 100% extra damage (atk).

The big thing with being in a mado is you sacrifice a lot of SP, because on top of all the skills you are using already, you also have to spam cool down after every 1-3 mobs (depending on mob size) otherwise you'll overheat.

Based on your skill build, I'd recommend you max out arm cannon, knuckle boost, and ice launcher tbh. Arm cannon is your main leveling skill, and while level 3 has a 3x3 AOE which isn't going to be your go-to while leveling, it does a lot more damage and will be important when you have strings/support and can spam holy, shadow, or ghost cannon balls on certain bosses. Knuckle boost, with the new gear, is spammable and very strong as a single target skill -- it's also a potential MVPing skill and can straight up one-shot many enemies from a distance (and also does not use a magic gear fuel, thankfully). Ice launcher is useful too for crowd control and for water elemental damage -- it's pretty strong, actually grows in AOE with higher levels, and also causes freezing and frozen statuses.

The downside to mado skills is they get shafted by the base level scaling hard; most classes' skills do 100% of their skill formula damage at base level 100 and increase by 25-50% by 150; mechanics start below that and only get to 100% of their skill formula damage at base level 120-150.

Basically, if you are in a mado, I can't really imagine you getting more use out of axe tornado or axe boomerang than you would out of arm cannon or knuckle boost, especially if you gear for a mado with its parts and the very alluring pile bunker + shield combo.

edit: maximize power -- I never use the skill, tbh, as I rarely ever auto attack things, and I'm usually running overweight with an undead knight f card or earth deleter card (or both).

I find that makes it so that my sp is limitless and I can endlessly spam axe tornado and periodically axe boomerang.

One reason I ask about Power Maximise is because I dont know if its effect also affect the skills; and if it does, wouldnt that be nice to have? a constant damage (if im not mistaken).

I most possibly wont be using those cards since they take up the nice Garment and Armor card slots which I would need for elemental cards and neutral reducs so I still see myself most likely using Arc Angeling card to help on SP regen.

I'm also aiming on using Thanatos Axe too since getting a good enchant Hurricane Fury seems a bit too expensive for me at the moment (or getting other things first is much cheaper) plus its got the regen and a good damage too.

I cant go for Leech hats because I have a +9 Sea Captain's Hat which seems useful for Axe Tornado (while there is also Malicious set but only leeches HP).

I've checked out the new Mechanic gears that you've said and I've searched around to know enough that each piece is like Mora set that can be enchanted. However, I cant find the list of enchants obtainable by each piece or is the list still being worked on?

Basically, I'm now confused on what to do in specific but I wont be needing anymore help on that since that kills the fun.

I do get the general view of things about Mechanic so thanks for the info and the help. I really appreciate it.

There's another thread where people are discussing the enchants. For now, one of the safest ways to see what enchants are possible is to look up the part on ragi.al and to see what ones exist.

By the way, +9 sea captain's hat gives same damage as +0, it seems the refine bonuses are not in.

Maximize power also will not regen sp with an sp regen boosting item (I tested it with pendant of harmony, which gives 50% sp regen boost and does work with bloodsucker.) It does seem to work with skills though.

Anyway, good luck m8.
