I have a cleric with a skill that is for mp recovery. But I have red letters that says REQUIRES: Magic Tool, so I think this skill is not working. What the heck is a magic tool? She has a wand and off hand on her. Thanks for any advice.
Stumped on this skill?

Hello Jmbarris!
Magic Tool refers to your offhand item. Check if your offhand item type says it is a Magic Tool. If it is a Magic Tool offhand let us know the name of it so we can check it out.

You probably have a doll as an offhand for the charm but you'd need an actual magic offhand like the one Lark showed in her post in order to use that skill. Magic Tools require int to equip.
Some magic tools are sold at the Arumic Merchant in Junon. Artisans can also craft them. If you want to whisper to me in-game on Tattletale, I can check the crafting skill and let you know how much int each one needs.

Your cleric can use 3 different types on offhand item, they are:
- Recreationals: Usually no requirements, except those rewarded in dungeons. Avaiable from NPC, Events, Item Mall & craftable. They come with many type of stats, but they have no block rate % & offhand defense (also magic defense)
- Magic tools: INT (Intelligence) required, available in Zant & Junon, Eucar & Muris (Arumic Merchant) & also craftable. Magic tool come with Max MP and MP Recovery rate, and provide a good number of block rate % & offhand defense (also magic defense)
- Shields: STR (Strength) required, only avaiable in Zant and Junon, the rest are craftable or obtained from Hall of Oblivion (Game Arena). These items are meant for Knight class only because they come with high STR req, although Tutankhamun Shield used to come without STR req.
In short, a typical cleric will use both recreational (To buff) and magic tool (use in combat for defensive purposes) interchangeably.

And if you're crazy or a masochist you can use a shield w/ the dragon skin passive xD

You guys are fabulous. This is exactly the answer I needed. Since indeed I am holding a doll with a mountain of charm...(which I won't give up) I am not getting the benefit of that skill. But I got the answer I was seeking. Thanks again
