Hi everyone!

I'm usually a euRO/fRO player, but our server has become a mess and the GMs, support and community managers don't say a word, besides weekly maintenance news when they aded a new cash-shop event.

So I'm checking out iRO.

I have written a simple EXP Viewer.

I saw this thread here: https://forums.warpp...-party-program/

Edge cases that we don't explicitly ban for.
(...)
- EXP calculators/monitors : You could calculate in your head if you were pating attention to the battle readout, plus this is a tool that we explicitly want to allow because we think it is useful.

On euRO i wrote a support ticket like 2 weeks ago asking for approval, because there exp viewers were never explicitely allowed, but haven't heard from them yet. They had a contact form for tools.

I wonder if i need to get this program approved for iRO, too, or if i could just release it for you and use it myself here.

I made quick checks to confirm that it runs, thinking it would be okay going by the statement I quoted above.

Here's a snapshot of what it looks (It also comes with a smaller form):

s7LLgdR.jpg

The special thing about this one is that it won't be necessary to update any memory adresses manually in a file for each client update unless the client becomes heavily modified with an update. It dynamically finds the required values.

Though for safety there's a file that can be placed in the same folder to either update the adress finding pattern or use direct memory adresses like other exp viewers do. Just in case it breaks some day and i'm not there to fix it.

Right now the tool has been tested and found working on iRO renewal & euRO renewal without having to change a thing, and iRO classic with a 'memory pattern'-file.

And because of the difference between euRO and iRO alone I'm sure this will work for a good while.

This tool just reads from system memory and does a few fun calculations.

It does not automate any player activites, it does not read, edit or write any network packages.

tl;dr:

Do i need to get my exp viewer approved by iRO staff? If so where/how? Or can it just be released and used?

RCX used to have the feature, so it should fall under as allowed, although Campitor would probably like to personally view it / have to program to test.

Additionally, if it is allowed, can I has?

Sounds great. It would be no problem to hand a version to iRO staff before i make a link public.

And of course, in case it gets approved everyone can has it. ;)

Thank you very much for the quick reply Campitor.

I've sent you a pm.

Don't worry, I'm already used to waiting because of the staff of the euRO server. :heh:

Hey fuzzy89, if that gets approved, will you make it available to the community?

There's a few similar programs on irowiki that are allowed - may I take a look?

Of course I will!

Most other tools I saw also had other features that were forbidden on euRO. They're very strict, when you get to hear something from them that is...
That is why i created this tool that does very little with the client to hopefully get it approved there. But I figured, since it worked here too why not try to share it with you, too.
If you mean by "may I take a look" to get a version now. I'm sorry, but I won't release it before i get an official OK.
Even though this should technically be undetectable I don't want to risk any of your accounts, in case staff does not allow it for some reason.
But compared to other things you are allowed to do with the client here, this programm should pass easily. :P

If you have a coffe/'substance...' to hour ratio you can easily convert that for at least your next level up.

Based on the calculated exp/hr you get estimated times for base and job ups.

It should pass by what you're describing and that's very honorable of you to wait in that way! I'm not sure if they will allow it to be linked here though (since they usually censor that stuff) which is why I asked to check it out for posting on fansites. (it will need checking for that also).

Any risk to my account is my responsibility alone.

Oh okay, that is good to know.

Thank you for telling me that, could easily have ended badly otherwise. :heh:

Guess I'll also have to ask If I'll be allowed to create a release-thread if i get a ok, or fall back to fansites, which I guess would be fine, too.

it would be really nice if they did allow official releases threads like that - but there's a liability risk I guess? They don't know who you are or your long term intentions so it sucks but makes sense.

maybe it'll be different this time (I don't wanna speak on the behalf of the staff) but I really think you should know that could happen (and has happened) before. - it's a similar case with approved client edits and the like - they're not going to teach players how to do it or allow links etc.

Yeah, I can see the risk for them. No doubt, I'm basically just a random person who came here. Been playing on euRO for ~13 years now, though. :heh:

Already sent them the source code to check.

Of course, source code can always be changed and words can promise all they want.

I myself would do nothing to risk my accounts and i can understand the fear of something happening to them.

And as a provider allowing a tool that could potentially screw over a big chunk of the userbase would be a big hit.

If I wanted to do bad things I'd already just have posted it on some 'sites'.

But you can observe this program at any time with firewalls or other programs it won't send a single bit over the internet.

People who are still afraid, can deny this program any network rights, it doesn't need any.

it looks and sounds like a neat version of autoimo from way back in the day. Having to use RCX for exp tracking sucks so if this is legit you're going to make a lot of people happy :p_idea:

there's one on irowiki by jaffer but the program window is HUEG.

Just a quick bump.

Haven't heard anything back yet.

Neither from euRO support nor here on iRO.
