Let's say both Maestro and Wanderer have Acoustic Rhythm maxed which gives 80% elemental resist. Add another 20% from Valkyrja's shield and in theory you shouldn't take damage from Dragons Breath. This seems way too good to be true. Wondering if any experienced performer has tested this.

Thanks

Acoustic Rhythm sets your elemental resistances to 80%, doesnt increases by 80%.

Acoustic Rhythm sets your elemental resistances to 80%, doesnt increases by 80%.

"Elemental Modifier: 125% vs. Undead 1 Property (target). If the target has Fire property reduction modifiers, it would be part of this calculation." irowiki's notes on DB.

So if both of these are true how much damage (% wise) would you receive from DB?

P.s. Did you mean decrease?

Q> So does using equip/fire resist pot after the buff stack onto the 80%?

Q> and does 80% resist mean you literally take 20% damage or does it mean something else?

1. As Ashuckel said it doesnt stack.
2. It literally means that indeed.

Lets make it easier for you to understand the way answer 1. works:

Say an incoming attack does 1000 damage that pierces defense but cannot bypass elemental reductions;

1000 reduced by 80%(acoustic rythmn) will mean 200 damage comes through. Elemental potions stack seperately from AR so the reduction then occurs as 200 reduced by 20% (assuming we only use the ER pots) which will mean the end damage you take is 160 damage.

Its even easier to remember by this golden rule of thumb: active skills that reduce incoming damage by % will not stack with equipment/cards/items but passive skills will ('Blacksmiths Skin tempering' follows this rule but Archbishops 'Eucharistica' does not for its shadow element resistance, it stacks seperately from everything altogether).

No, as i said on my 1st post, it sets your elemental resistances to 80%. Is not a different calculation. It just overrides any amount of reduction you have and makes it 80%.

Not from what i just tested out with my performers. Maybe further testing on my end is needed but it looks like gears/cards and the ER pots still further reduces the damage after standing in acoustic.
