I've made an inventory on my WL's gears the other day, and they sum up to 8 b! WTF?! I've been playing here since last december, though I admit that I've sold ~4000 KP in the course of these months, but most of my KP was spent on enriched ores.
That's why I told MrAmdarais in the other topic that I was miscounting my income, I was not counting any random MVP drops, nor the money I make with "failed, but profitable" mora enchanted gear (like some Wands of Affection with enchants that sell for 15-20 M), neither the money I make by doing what DanaAtkinson said, though never got such a good opportunity, but I made ~200 M last week by buying stuff from quick sellers and reselling them by a lot more, but I also lost some money a few times speculating that way, and I've been doing it since the second week from when I started playing in iRO (by buying underprice SoDs and Variant Shoes and reselling them with a profit of 500 K to 1M each, lol). But if you profit more than you lose, it can be great. But again, all these things are opportunity dependant, and also luck dependant and knowledge dependent. Just like in real life, the market is a great place to make money.

This isn't reliable for everyone, as the more people do it, the far less there is to be made.
I really hope no one takes the advice to stop gears at 1-2b lol, those are the ones that piss me off in Bio. Definitely no where near equal footing, and if you have the funds but don't invest, it is being selfish to others in the party that survive extremely well, deal great damage, or have amazing heals/cast speeds.
Not everybody tracks the market every day. HBP may be 200m 2 weeks ago, and some people may content on just selling it for 250m, while you can sell it over 380m for example. So there are always room for profit in these type of reselling market, no matter how cut throat it sounds. It just takes patience most of the time to vend and a bit of luck to find that value sellers.
1-2B is plenty of zeny for any single character to perform effectively even in Bio4. If you understand RO well, you only need to gear efficiently based on situation and your build in PvM and MvP.
You're probably upset about those players who probably have sub 150m worth of gears, and each gears are all over the place not really tied to specific build. They are pretty common since you can easily get to 150 by just Eden gears leeching gramp TI party. But I really don't understand the elitism. Often times, those players pull together just fine with only just a reasonable gear in Bio4 or even KK high TI as long as everyone in the party do their work effectively.
I think the reason why people dislike people with cheap gears are probably because those people are newer players and may not understand the mechanic of RO very well. Hence they often underperform on their role. The only people that tend to annoy me in bio4 are the greeder who keeps greeding, never bring any pots / Gwing, and then keep asking sorc for SP without doing much work. Those are worse offender than having cheap gears in my book lol.
I play sorc, DB RK, AB, ranger, mechanic, stringer, wandy, rebel, Soul Linker, and sura. They are all hardly gear over 1.5B, with Gene being an exception. Never had any issue defeating any instances or hosting bio4 party. I was saving up for GTB, but too burnt out and gave up RO for now.

I just have a different mentality, the stronger my character is, the more I can kill or support, the more zeny I make or faster I can level.
Yes the way people play has something to do with it, but many new players seem to think it is ok to be mediocre because others can pick up the slack, before you know it half a party is made up of people like that.

Took me 5 months to make 27B ish from 0z. I never farmed a single OCA. No MvP cards dropped either ( I think BB and HE gum are the biggest rip off). Sold few KPs that I got from 6 months sub to start, then use that zeny to trade all day long. It felt like a job, so I am kind of burned out and retired for now. I mostly made zeny from players who had no idea what the market value is on particular items, but it is work to keep tracking the market every day. Connect my vendor through virtual private server so I can remote desktop in and manage the store. Use script to auto check ragial and alert me if my store disconnected. I must say that new players are easy prey. You'd be amazed how low they are willing to sell. It's often a 300-500m profit for me. You can use script to autocheck ragial every few minutes for cheap stuff as well. Sometimes new players are selling treasure for pennies like a Kafra Blossom Card for 500k instead of 500m. That's an instant 500m profit.
I personally don't think this game is intended for players to be this powerful. Once you have all those very expensive gears, the game becomes extremely shallow and boring. I think a good spot is probably around 1B-2B worth of gears. Those +12 gears are overkill. You will be fine doing any content in this game with just +9 with modest cards / gear then utilize teamwork, strategy, and skills to overcome the challenge with exception of WoE, which is really an arm race, and it's not worth striving for anymore in my opinion at least in this server. You probably looking around 30-40m worth of equipment to be an effective damage dealer with an equal footing to others.
Awewsome. Congrats.
I have poor to zero knowledge on programming/scripting so I'm curious as to what this "script" actually is.
Did you make your own scripts?

Wow, I've played on and off since 2006 and I think all my gear together is maybe worth 3-4b tops. The most zeny I've ever had on a character at one time was around 700m. Though, part of my zeny problem is probably self inflicted since I don't have the patience to sit around constantly hunting things, running specific instances, etc. day in and day out. I don't want to treat a game that I play to relax as a second job. So, sadly as a result, baring a lucky find, I'll never be rich in game.
My fix for the zeny inflation problem; go into the db and just remove one "0" from everyone's zeny value. Someone who has 2b zeny would now have 200m zeny. But, at the same time someone with 1m zeny would only have 100k zeny. But, it's much easier for a new person to make that up. (I'm joking, btw)
