I have played RO for many years in private servers.(got used to it because when I was young I think iRO was P2P) I have never played a renewal server and I know there are many things to consider when changing my playstyle from a private server where we have dungeon warper and healears (didnt need to stat int for mana as we could just go back to town and heal). With that said, I love Spear Knights/LKs(never touched the new classes ever..) always leveling with pierce and never went the clashing spiral route on LKs. I would like recommendations on stat builds, cheap leveling and efficient gear(I love properly carded pikes and doing insame dmg) and how much of a struggle is it for a new player to start as a knight. I have seen the drop rates of cards and important gear and basically everything has to be bought from markets because farming specific items at 0.01%(any1 does that?). Other classes I enjoy are wizards and assassins. If anyone can point out what I need to know about renewal I would appreciate that.

Hi iRO is not P2P but it's more P2W for both Classic and Renewal :P

Rune Knight (LK/ Knight 3rd Class in Renewal) and Warlock (HW / Wizard 3rd Class in Renewal) is two class which have highest gear cost to maintain in order to maximize their potential.

For starter I dont recommend you try on those 2 class as starter but if you insist to try have SVD build for knight early leveling and IDV / IDVL build for wizard

On the contrary assassins is more starter friendly compared to other 2 classes mentioned above.

try SADL for early assassins build

Terms

SVD : Strength+Vitality+Dexterity

IDV  : Intelligence+Dexterity+Vitality

IDVL : Intelligence+Dexterity+Vitality+Luck

SADL : Strength+Agility+Dexterity+Luck

For Equipments you can refer some from here but for more latest reference you can check Classes Subforum discussion

Listen to the guy above.

Yeah sin is decent (then become a GX).. and perhaps consider Ranger. Level the archer and sin side by side to see what you'll appreciate more as classes that are low maintenance but decent returns with just cheap gears.

Skim a bit in this thread:

Thanks guys, I decided to not listen initially and made a swordsman, I found out that defense works so different and damage mitigation is way less than pre-renewal. I also found myself missing way too often even with 27 dex!!

I started a thief and found a way easier time pumping agility. It just sucks that new players are forced to play a class they are not really interested in if they want to have an "easy" time.
