From IW DATA, it says short range attack, so I am confused, is short range=melee?

short range = melee in the general sense, but there are some skills/weapons that can hit a few cells away and are still considered "melee" or "short-range".
For example, ignition break has an effective range of 11x11 (5 cells away from you in any direction) and it still counts as "short range" where-as shooting an arrow at someone literally right next to you counts as "long range".
As an aside, some people take "melee" to mean "auto-attacking" or "ctrl-clicking" instead of literal hand to hand fighting, so you may encounter some confusion with that.

hmm so recently I am playing PVP ranger
I have an SS+VALK +13 BXB,which i used to lvl up in bio4, I am thinking add these two cards into a creeper bow and play as a warg ranger in P/G, idk if it would be good, since ranger is kind of weak in this patch.

I only play ranger, so basically I just know melee and ranged attack
