Ragnarok Online is really really old.

But, to me, it's a brilliant classic.

And it's got the best soundtrack I've EVER listened to.

And I would REALLY love to jump into this game and stick with it for a long arse time~ Make friends along the way~

But, questions first!

1. What is the community like here? How active is it in-game?

2. Sorry to ask this question but, how about Cash Shop? Is it really needed to prevail in PvE? Am I going to have to spend large amounts of money to get far into the game with others? Not that I probably  won't mind... I really do love Ragnarok Online and want to be part of the community... just may not be able to spend a lot this year.. or the next probably...

3. Will I make friends along the way? Find me a guild?

I just really want to play Ragnarok Online, it's really beautiful.

Honestly, you can't tell me to stay away from this game. Unless it's absolutely dead. And there's no way to make friends here.

I would really love to play this game LONG-TERM.

Which is why I'm really hoping to make friends here and get far into the game.

1. The community is pretty normal. Stay active in forums and you'll begin to get a glimpse of what the people here are like.

2. Gears don't really matter until you're reaching towards the end level, so I would say iRO is pretty newbie friendly. Again, read up on the guides on this forum and on wiki (irowiki.org) to get a feel on what you should or shouldn't do/buy.

3. Will you make friends along the way? It depends on your attitude, I'd say. As long as you're not particularly weird or annoying, there're always someone who'll just click with you. If you're playing Chaos Renewal you can search for guilds here.

Hey, I'm weird AND annoying and I have friends so you should be fine either way :P

I think the community is always willing to help new players, make sure you read a few guides so you don't ask stuff that is already in forums.

You can get equips through quests and there are some really useful equips that many characters can use but you can work towards them.

There are lots of guilds too so hope you can find one that suits you.

Welcome to RO!

Community-wise, this game is great; there are plenty of guilds to choose from and visit with, and even just adventuring around you'll make friends and meet people. ^.^

As for paying, you can get to 3rd job class without any heavy investment. Getting to really high levels after the 3rd job you will have to pay something, but you can decide how much really.
