This week testing. Lets test the box open rates. Any 99/70 character can report to the Treasure Cache Opener in Asgard Village and receive 1 Bronze Key and 1 Low Level Treasure Cache. Please open it and tell us what you think of your rewards.

 

35 red potions
1 agi+3 food
2 aloe
11 blue potions
4 blue gems
1 blue gem
9 bottles
 

1 character got the cache and the key but after I talked to the npc again to open it, I didn't get anything and both the cache and the key disappeared.  Is there a rare chance of getting nothing at all?  Now, I doubt myself that I might have clumsily chosen "No" instead.  But is choosing No would yield to loss of both chest and key?

 

Sad that 99/50 expanded classes are not qualified to test tho.

I got 5 speed potions.

My thoughts? Not remotely worth spending $ for the rewards so far it seems. The higher tier caches may need to be refined as far as rewards and definitely less chance of random "junk". I am highly concerned about the removal of lucky boxes as I know many people who drop hundreds each month to open them.

Excuse my noobness, is there any way to try and slot the Takius? (not on socket enchant list) if not, i think it would be good.

It shouldn't have taken the key without opening the box. Unless it took the key and something broke the opening process.

Looking at the rewards even with the bronze key.. its just a little underwhelming and you don't always get something immediately useful. I think there needs to something just a little extra.


What if we gave some adventuring buffs when the box was opened?

A chance for +X to stats would be nice each time the box is opened (for maybe 30-60 mins?). Maybe also giving party buff scrolls too would work? Or perhaps +5 foods?

I also like the idea that it could possibly give you .25 or .5x to drops for 15-30min at a small chance instead of the + to stats too (this could maybe be higher cache instead?). Not sure how hard that would be to script in though. Whatever keeps people logged in and playing would be ideal and the adventuring buffs seem like a great way to catalyst that. Including an expiry date on the buff items would give more incentive to keep playing too.

You could even have a recycle NPC which would make opening a box worth X value on the server so new players could indeed open a vend store with what was considered junk now valuable without thinking they're not ever going to sell their Mace [4] to fund their noob adventures etc.

Also, if you have premium items (such as slotted mids, pizza hat, RW hat etc) only attainable via the key opening (and not the recycling NPC) that would stop people not ever wanting to hunt the caches and stop the flooding and inflation somewhat.

3rd: The npc took both the key and the box, but he gave nothing in return.

+3 dex foods. . . sound good. They are just the lowest level boxes anyway.

They has just not worth my time to find the key (the easiest is mvping) to open the box.

 

For the last one. . .I do not know what really happened.

I was sure that I got both the box and the key (I got the teal system message about them)

But there was no system message for the gain items, and there was no unfamiliar items in my inventory.

Then the npc did not talk to me after that.

lol @ the lists of what ppl are getting. so so so underwhelming...this has to be a joke. 

 

spend 3+ hours doing the sign quest to potentially get 4 blue gems????? oh boy

this is the best list of classic only stuff i could find. it has somewhat of an explanation and guide for slotting mids. not sure if its 100% up to date.

You need to be vip for it.

The quest only allows once per char.

The items +7 Padded Armor[1] -> +7 Coat[1]  and +7 Blade [4] -> +7 Rod[4] for at least priest and mage classes.

I see that I'm not alone. This happened to me too. No system message of any sort, just that the box and the key disappeared. Then, I tried talking to the npc again and it doesn't give any reply anymore.

If this is some sort of bug, hope it gets fixed. Considering in the future we need to kill mvp or buy using kp for key only to disappear will be kind of frustrating.
