Yeah. Only thing in thorn staff's favor is the cast delay and mdef piercing.

I'm in the same predicament about this as well. I'm using a Sorcerer so I dont know if my input will help you out because I prioritize on having a really fast cast time.

 

I havent reached any decisions about it yet because TSOD is enchantable so losing the TSOD + Skull Cap combo will cause me to lose 30% v. cast time reduction instantly.

Zaha Doll hat is really tempting to me because with Temp Dex boots, I wouldnt need Ventus out and wouldnt matter if the AB forgot to give me Sacrament but I'm still mostly coming back to my TSOD + Skull Cap combo because of its bonus effects and the enchant.

 

And if I ever do decide to permanently switch to Zaha though, I might still stick to TSOD just for its enchant and bonus effects on its own.

 

One other thing for Crimson Rod is that even though there's 2 slots, I dont have any cards in mind that could be put in its slots. This maybe more likely from my lack of information on them.

a higher lvls getting cast reductions through stats allows you to focus on more dmg on the gears, wich is better

New nightmare dungeon cards allow you to bypass 50% of some races mdef, wich is a lot on some cases, you need to wear a shield in order to make them work, and what ash said is true, at higer lvls stst reduction is better because allow you Focus on dmg instead of casting time, also with The ammount of ibt you will be stacking wont be difficult

Never thought the day finally comes for iRO players to openly talk about cast reduction through stats. I have done everything I can to achieve instantcast on my AB through stats last year in the coming wake of updates such as these and people kept laughing about how silly it was that i didnt invest into cast reduction gears. Look now you losers, i can attain the power i need while they now have to consider how to play with their stats to make the most of it.

Insta with stats was a thing since way back in 150 cap, but ot was way harder and less effective. After 175 it became the standard for endgame dmg build.

Dont bash me for this but I almost gave up on the idea of getting insta through stats because for me as a filthy casual -- while its effective, its inefficient.

I somehow calculated months ago that it would take me the need to use stat foods and buffs that other class have for me to achieve that while still not sacrificing a lot of damage (I even made a post about it here but thanks to the ones that replied, I got the gist of it).

I'm like that other guy here in the forums that hates using consumables and such (I think the forum name was Nirvanna, read some threads about ranger back then.)

 

Of course I'm still in the midst of revising my build to get insta through stats whenever something new came up but for now, I just dont see it yet for my sorc without using stat foods and other non-class related stuff (like VIP buffs and/or AB buff).

Gear-wise, it might be possible by switching to a more dex invested stats instead of INT but that does not seem worth it.

 

One thing is that I agree with everyone here that Crimson Rod does more damage.

In fact, I'm still trying to figure out on how to lessen the loss of cast time reducs so I could finally switch to my Crimson Rod (only +12 so far).

I even calculated my build using the completely normal shadow gears (all stat +4).

 

However, this one only applies to me for the most part since I cant really invest much time to invest on additional things such as stat foods.

get gears that give a bunch of dex and int, like temp dex boots, dex gfss, etc

if you can get sarah earing with skill delay enchant -10% x2 +14 thorn staff and +7 lounge suit, i think +13 and up zaha doll will be the best combo. -46% after cast delay and then when zaha doll effect kicks in it will be magic spamming i think. if you have mid head gear with kiel card that will be a monstrous -76% after cast delay with zaha doll lessing the fix cast time.

decided on Crimson+zaha and found another way for instant cast

 

2x RWC Pendent 3/3sp = 32%

Temp In spell5 = 10%

+9FAW sp19 = 30%

Mid-gear w/ Dark Illusion = 10%

+12 Zaha + KK card = 12%

 

Total 94%
with 120 on dex and int that should close enough to instant cast
