Hi Guys,

I'm a new player with a level 50 Ranger (cannot pass the ML test, unfortunately :( ).

I love Rangers because of how easy it is to solo PvE (at least during quests) but they doesn't seem to be popular on party/raids. Seems like there are too many DPS around already.

So with that, I want to make a new character that..:

  • Can play Solo PvE/grind.
  • Won't have too much difficulty on early levels (1-50).
  • Needed or Preferred on PvE Groups like Party dungeons & raids.

Any advice? :)

BTW, I don't mind support characters, but it will be really good if they can fend for themselves while playing solo/grinding. XD

Also, what would be a good job that can profit even at early levels? haha XD

Hi!

I am sorry to hear that Ranger is tricksy to play for you.

I agree; Ranger isn't as easy as some other classes...

when my Ranger took the test, it was right after AoV,

so the test & gear were very different then vs now...

Now, people try to pass the test wearing sub-par gear.

This is possible for some classes, but not for others.

It really helps to farm RHD gear or better; which, sadly,

require help or a party of peers to get. And alot of time.

It also helps to have a SM buff you before entering test.

A tank class, like BM, can pass the MLtest much easier.

Keep this in mind for any class you try to MLtest with.

If you wanna play a Ranger, you need to make yourself

useful to a party. Potion and Food crafting help thru Osi.

Pets with max pet cd help always. Especially good pets.

Invest in pet collecting. This takes time, but it's worth it!!!

High vigor hones help your pet cd even more! Vigor num!

Traps can be useful, sometimes, but max AoEs always!

Stealth can help in some cases, and annoy in others...

Play with different ways of Luring, w/ and w/o stealth.

I like to stealth and run ahead of the luring tank, then

drop a heal pet on the tank just before needed, & AoE.

This is especially good in the Dark Whisper Last Room.

Or stealth run out, unstealth lure back, drop stun pet &

keep running around party till healed/aggro lost, & AoE.

This is good in FP, and also in parts of DW, Osi, & Dayr.

Each map will have different luring situations to exploit.

Ranger is not a class that can just smash/spam 2 skills.

They have to be crafty to be useful. & Fast. & Patient.

And willing to die for the party. Good humour helps too.

Cheers and Good Luck!  :archer:

Having a hard time with Master Level test?

Tips :

1. Ask a nice SoulMaker to cure you

2. Hide (Camouflage) before entering the Test Arena

3. Shoot 1 of the Einherjar (You'll do double damage)

4. Summon DoT pet. (Mermaid / Imp / Sohee / Peco2)

5. Keep shooting until your target is down.

Personally, i think Ranger is a good class.

ML1 - ML22, Ranger will have no trouble finding a party.

Unfortunately, Dark Whisper - Forgotten Payon ruins Ranger life.

I think Priest seems to meet your criteria

Support class with great DPS skills, and you don't need to be well geared too
