The nice thing about a new guild is that everyone is new and we can all grow together. Most of the guilds you see today are remakes of older guilds that were on the previous servers before the merge. This means that those close knit circles of friendship still exist in those guilds and its hard for someone new to join an already established guild and fit right in. Big established guilds can be good: they can supply better supplies for WoE, win castles in WoE, organize large parties to level or MvP, offer their guildies gear, and the list goes on. However, if joining a big guild will leave you feeling like you're just a pawn for them or that you will never be in their close knit circle that was forged over years of playing together... then is it worth it? A new guild, like Quest, will always be a rough start as we do not have the resources or man power to offer everyone supplies, gear, or always have a party going. There may be a lot of soloing or times where you're the only member online. However, those that stick it through and see the guild grow will eventually become that circle themselves when the guild is large and successful.
