We believe we figured out the issue and pushed out a client patch an hour or so ago.
We think the error 2 affected clients that weren't updated for a while, which is why it was a minority of current players.
We've tested on multiple clients and it seems to work, so let us know if you still get the issue.

i have this problem last Oct. i have a Old installer and downloaded the New installer i just mix up the old one to the new one then FIX ^_^ heheh good thing i didnt delete the Old files. i already send a ticket in WP they didnt even help a lot so i manage to fix it by my self.

I had to do a fresh reinstall of RO2 and I still get this issue. My client is version 259, coming straight from your official download page. I sent a ticket already and I'm posting here to let you know.

i cant play this game, after downloading file .vdk still dont work
i have download client 3 times and still dont work
the problem is patch error
how to resolve this error?

I think I found a way but need to fully test it first. What you need to do besides replacing the ASSET.vdk file is to open MD5FileList.txt file in your Ragnarok Online 2 folder with notepad and delete everything inside. Save before quitting. Then go to proprieties of the same file and set to "Read only". Apply and OK.
This fix I said works for me, give it a try.

Well, you can download any latest RO2's client file here https://ro2.poi.wtf/ro2/
And theres one file that could "fix" this patching problem without messing up with MD5FileList.txt or using one year old ASSET.VDK, but I'm not sure that WP will be happy to see how it works...

Just downloaded client today. Tried to use the one from steam, no luck. No fixes worked. Removed all related files. Tried the download from WP. Still same error 02. Tried VDK fix, nothing. Same for a couple friends who are trying to get in to RO again.

Also wondering why this is still called a "temp fix" when it's been almost a year. And this one isn't a catch all. Is there up-to-date information on this???

So i haven't played for two years , and decided to come back, re downloaded the installer and launcher. and no maintenance today.
Error 2 can not connect to patch server keeps on popping up.
Please help.

So I have 2 pc's and Ive been playing just fine on a client I downloaded on 8/6/17. However yesterday I tried to download to my laptop and received "Error 02: Cannot connect to patch server". I uninstalled, reinstalled from website, tried to run as administator and in compatibility mode with no change.
Now today myself, my wife, and best friend are all getting an error about not being able to connect to the server. We've done all the patching updates and there has been no resolution to this issue yet.

This fix did not work for me. It got me past the patch server error and into the launcher, but after the launcher finished "updating" the game I get a new error upon trying to log in.
"The version of client is not correct. Please try again later."
"Can't connect to server. Please try again later."
After which it closes the game entirely. The launcher gives no indication of the version the game is on, but reading the Version.dat file it says I'm on version "00000280"

YAY! Another new problem after fixing this ''error 2'' with this ''ASSET'' method. Please help me. Goddes this is being diffcult.

I'm getting the same now, this problem seem to have no end. Why must it be the players to fix Warp portal games? Why can't they put a working client in their download page ? -.- This has been going on since at least Nov. 2016.

Anyone has any idea how to make the version of the client recognized as correct? In version.dat I also have 280, I'm open to any suggestion that makes it work.

Btw those having "Can't connect to the server. Please try again later" try using hotspot shield https://www.hotspotshield.com it's free to use, no need to insert any information.

Up to date client.
1: Download zip file.
2: extract to preferred location
3: Go to location extracted, click the folders until you come to the one with all the files in it.
4: start ro2client
5: enjoy for now.

I used your script to sync all files with up-to-date files and I still get the version of the client is not correct. Any idea?

Only one person out of 17 found the right file since yesterday

In game error while trying to login or launcher error?
If in game it's very... weird. Game client version is located in Rag2.exe as far as i know
I've just downloaded the Rag2.exe and logged in just fine.
For launcher, the problem is on WP side, because most likely they updated ASSET.VDK but did not update filesize\md5 in MD5FileList.txt\MD5FileList.bin, or vise versa

In game error while trying to log in. I open RO2 fine, I'm past the launcher problem. Now after I enter my username/password to connect, it returns that error. I also find it very weird, I even suspect it's actually happening to me only. I'm waiting for the support to reply to my ticket to follow-up this issue.
