Some of these are really fun to read, but I can't help but wonder if some people understand how this really works. I suppose there's nothing wrong in asking for something insanely expensive, but most people in this thread are more than likely going to be disappointed.

I'm guessing that this was not the first of this event? Reading from the rules it states clearly that the chance of you getting what you asked for is not 100%. So even if you asked something silly there is still a chance that you will not receive what you asked for.

 

So for the sake of this event why not ask for something expensive rather than ask something that is not so expensive and yet you didn't receive it even so.   The ending is still the same even though you followed the practical route.

 

The idea is good but it would be better if there is a limitation on what can be asked and can we not go to Braavos and ask for the Iron Bank's help on this matter so everyone can be happy.

That's not really how it works. A player will claim your request and offer to donate it to you. There's a much higher chance that someone will offer to donate something that is 50m as opposed to these 1b requests. Every secret Santa event I choose about 5 or so people to gift to. They're generally not the 1b + ones although there's a chance one or two might be. Buy to the other people who were looking forward to gifting it's a lot harder when reasonable requests are few.

Exactly what Kami said. The chance of you receiving a gift that's worth 100m is far greater than receiving a gift worth 1b or more (or a Pharaoh card). Of course none of this is set in stone and some expensive requests will be donated while some cheap ones ignored. At the end of the day remember that you're asking a random person to donate you a free gift, and if you were that person how likely are you to donate 1b out of your own pocket as opposed to 100m?

I lost my daddy. He died in a fight. I tried helping him, but I couldn't be caught in the crossfire. He accepted a duel against three people and I thought he was going to be strong enough to take them on, but I was gravely wrong so I disowned him. :/
