i play every type of sura except woe/pvp sura so i can give you some good pointers.
if you're going combo monk, you definitely want to have autocast features that benefit you. you should be aware that some autocast features have negative effects.. or what players would deem 'negative specific' effects. the ring of resonance and ring of flame lord combo versus the advanced ror/rofl combo is a perfect example. the normal set makes the user proc g-fist (which wastes SP and spheres) and sonic blow (powerful, but the after delay is slow and annoying). the advanced set does not; those 2 skills have been removed out of the autoproc skill list. although gfist and sonic blow are good skills when used alone, you do not want these skills procing off randomly and eating into your DPS or your SP supply.
autocast both can and can not be good depending on what and when you want said skill to proc. some skills overwrite or come before others. some skills hitlock you or keep you from moving forward. research that here
a pretty good gear setup for an autocast combo monk would be:
eddga hat
black devil mask
CD in mouth
diabolus armor w/ porcellio card (or you could use an Agav card to get 5% more magic attack for CD bolt damage, but long term you want straight attack-based diab armor)
spartacus or c.knuckles (but remember you can still play combo monk with maces) use this and look at the card list for weps. too many to name.
heroic backpack OR fallen angel wings w/ wakwak card & fighting spirit enchants, or even just a raydric card for 20% neutral resistance
anything +9 with a firelock card that you can wear. when you pass 100 you can use temporals. temporal strength/fighting spirit/bear's power is a good combo, but you could use agi temps too which would proc aspd boost. you'll have to study the various temporals and their enchanted effects here.
a cheap secondary option is the bloodied shackled ball/shackles combo. accessory and shoes. an extra 50atk.
advanced ror/rofl rings.
if you're going into shadow gear, you at least want a full physical shadow set. there are various shadow costumes, as well as enchant options for upper/mid/lower/garment costumes. look into the amistr bags. ASPD+1 enchanted wings are also helpful, endgame.
note: the amount of stats you have for a monk are not that much. use this stat calculator and see for yourself. an autocast combo monk requires str for damage, int for the matk damage of the CD's bolts, agi for aspd and dex for hit/accuracy. for this reason, it would be better to use fallen angel wings over a heroic backpack (based on the stat descriptions of the two garments). its harder to hit the required 90 of any base stat for HBP with this build unless you sacrifice high numbers on certain stats - something that usually only wealthier people can afford to do because of their heavy gear investments.
an endgame lvl 99/70 monk stat setup for an autocast combo build could be something like:
70 str
80 agi
40 vit
30 int
60 dex
9 luk
you get 1 extra atk/matk, some pdodge flee and hit for every 3 base luk points you spend. all stat points have been used w/ this build and none remain. but its for a lvl 99/70 monk and obviously you'll transcend and hit champ & sura, so the points will be extra at that point. play w/ the calc for that.
if you want to ditch the autocast and just go straight damage/combo, you could do something like
eddga hat
bdm
jinn marin balloon
diab armor w/ porcel
wep of your choice
mad bunny shield w/ card of your choice. hodrem card is 'resistant'; 15% damage reduction from all sizes. likely the most used shield card. i forget if there are attack based cards for shield or not.
HBP with wakwak
enhanced variants w/ firelock card
2 rwc rings with FS enchants would be best, but rwc is account bound and costly. advanced ROFL by itself gives a nice str/attack boost. medal of honor is another option. fidelity necklace gives extra agi and resistance to animals. emerald earrings, though maestro based, are usable by almost any class including monks. an extra 5 int/dex/agi per accessory is pretty damn nice.. though not quite as fitting for a combo monk. but if you wanted to lessen your base stats on dex/agi, you could do so and get it back with these rings. the BsB combo i mentioned earlier is a cheap substitute for shoes/1 accessory. vesper core 02 and 03 are their own accessories for str and agi, respectively. if you got the cash, get a couple of bakonawa tattoos. there's probably more accessories im forgetting but this is good for now.
a good stat setup for straight combo monk would be:
80 str
90 agi
60 dex
20 vit
2 luk
but of course you can sacrifice agi for more vit. you would just get a bonus from the HBP if you kept any base stat on 90.
play with the calcs and check out gear search options on db.irowiki.org. there's a lot of info you dont yet have, but i hope this helps.
