Instead of having all of that congestion in just a few rooms, i call for the release of NPC's back into the wild!

Just about every NPC in eden is useful. I can't even begin to name them all but i'll name some. Gramps, Upgrade NPCs, Eve & Eat, Mesmerist, Item Stacker, Quest and Signboard related, Class related quests through blue doors, Chef, FAW enchanter, ect ect. The list is very long and i can think of so many uses for eden's NPCs if i sat down for a few hours.

The problem was never the NPCs.. but the congestion. Eden is simply too small and bottle necked. Its very existence is what creates a large fraction of the overall dryness within the community. Originally before the creation of eden, gramps was moved on either a weekly, bi-weekly, or monthly basis (can't remember).to the various turnin maps which were at the actual maps themselves. This was actually really fun because people had to move around and the act of having to move around gave the game more flavor because one would more often run into the same people that they had previously met in other areas. The act of "adventuring" from place to place and re-meeting the same people in new/different areas is what builds tighter bonds within the community, while meeting the same people in the same place creates staleness. But i think there was also a problem with too much congestion on the actual maps themselves when it was this way, which may have been one of the factors leading up to eden. If people were serious about it we could find an upgraded solution to this problem, especially if GM/Vmods participated in the idea.

--- It should be known that the problem with complaints about congestion back then existed because of the transition from not having gramps at all to suddenly having gramps.

--- If i remember right, the complaints were about people who wanted to farm V. people who wanted to just do turn-in counts. Something about 'wanting the freedom to farm in peace' - something very few even do anymore because of the lacking monster numbers on normal maps and the idea that "i can just wait til these monsters are in TI and get a better use out of my gum".
--- With the creation of gramps and eden, this farming V turnin problem should now be non-existant. They have already merged together for 4-5 years thanks to eden and are now imprinted within all of RO's population. They are now one in the same, so perhaps a split at this point would work.
--- Gramps has sent me a messenger pigeon stating that he wishes to retire from his 24/7 job at eden. He has saved enough money to vacation around the world until forever. He has stated that by allowing him to be free to travel, that his influence will spread greatly across the lands and make even noobs follow him into places that they once could not enter (put gramps in buildings that have to be quest-accessed so lazy people are forced to adventure and have fun for a change. IE: rachel sanctuary)

Variants were old, so Enhanced Variants were introduced. Eden is old and it needs refreshing.

Lets look at all the vendors first. We know that vending on the first floor of eden was originally allowed, but that eventually TOO many people put up vends and it became ridiculously impossible to even walk around. 2nd floor vending is still allowed  and its honestly not too bad unless new gear/upgrade events are going on. Gets a bit crowded then. But why are those vendors even there? why not in pront or payon? simple. because you have an insane amount of useful NPC's all stacked in one area. The chances of people making profit off of passerbys in that area is high because there is reason for a high number of passerbys to be there. Take away the multiple reasons for passerbys to be there and vendors will no longer have a reason to be there either. They will disperse and go elsewhere.

Lets look at the people with chat signs next. They are there for the same reasons. Selling things, looking to buy things, looking for parties or to form them, looking for help or questions. Take away gramps and the people looking for parties disappear and go elsewhere, freeing up some of the congestion. Start taking away useful NPC's and putting them in other areas, and people wont have a reason to be in eden.

If you scatter useful npc's to the wind, the people will obviously follow them because we will still require their services and be forced to travel there. The act of un-lazying yourself isnt usually fun at the start, but its understandably more tolerable when you've been doing it for a while.

I honestly believe eden, at this point, should be a "help only" area. Take out the majority of NPCs and scatter them to useful (but accessible) dead areas of the game. Have ragial bots cover more towns like light, alberta, alde, and morroc. Give Kafra NPCs more accessible teleports for non-vip. Remove all those class/level quest specific NPCs in the back left room past the blue door and make it the buy/sell room for chats. Designate the kitchen area as the help area for people with actual questions. Keep a gm or even a community volunteer or some knowledgeable person in there to answer questions and be a community helper. There are tons of us who would help simply to help. Bring blacksmith NPCs back to payon or even make THEM go on adventures too! Bring the kafra NPC's to pront or, again, some other destination. Make the NPC's that revolve around gramps follow him around. There are tons of untapped ideas for places to stick these NPCs. Cluttered all up in one area is boring and makes the game stale!

Disbursement of those NPCs into dead areas would be like planting seeds because those NPCs are important enough to make people travel. Some people could wind up setting up camp in those new areas and that could attract other/new people, which could lead to the formation of guilds or public chill spots over time. You have to give people reason to leave eden.

Make people move again; im tired of the game that i've been playing for 10 years feeling so dead.

TLDR.

NPC Buffer should be near agits/pvp areas as well.

Having the same sentiments with the OP. But I don't think it is viable to think there will be tedious work to do.

i think with the right planning, GMs could introduce this over the course of a couple of months so people could adjust to the new locations. a full on thread would be needed at that point to guide people.

more feedback on this would be great.
