That's true but you will still get the old battle manual from Eden Npc. Tested myself. Just talk to her before you register at Eden.   

I talked to her and then went to eden, no BM's for me still.

From the ship decks of Izlude or Malangdo Island, talk to Con-Chliina Crewman. 2k zeny warp (Non-VIP) to Lasagna Island.

Did you talked to Eden npc before you talked to the academy staff? It only works if you talked to the academy lady first.
