Hey there! I started playing ROSE in about 2007, all the way back when it was pay-to-play. I've kept an eye on ROSE ever since then and I've came back around due to nostalgia. Since playing games at a young age I always wanted to learn how they worked, especially ROSE, so I taught myself programming 4+ years ago through the game Garry's Mod and learned Lua. I moved onto Python to further my skills outside of video games, then shortly I moved onto C++ once I felt confident enough in my ability to code. From what I've read around the forums the amount of developers working on ROSE seem to be lacking, and what better way to use my skills than to try to help a game I've loved for years? I have poked around on another server (which I thought was actually an official branch, found out it was not shortly after.) and was amazed by the QoL changes and bug fixes they've squashed that are still prevalent in the current official release, so it has me curious why official ROSE has not followed suite yet.

Am I able to help in any way?

The server could use someone like you but again i'm about 99.9% sure they won't allow a random.

But hey it's the thought that counts! Cheers mate!

Oh yeah, of course. It's understandable and to be expected, though I'm more curious of what I could do as I'm quite seriously interested in it. Now that I've done a little research I've actually found http://www.warpportal.com/careers.aspx which appears to answer my questions, though now I'm curious to hear from a current developer what I could focus on in order to be most useful.

Also, thanks! :)

Just don't direct them here where all the hypocrites will be trashing the game.

I have wondered this forever as a programmer myself... The answer is hard to answer for many reasons... Letting in a random is handing the keys to the kingdom over to a possible heretic that "we" don't have control over.

While you may be able to offer help, core game programming is like trying to walk on area 51... let me know what happens...

You can make many suggestions and artistic submissions, but with the man power only so much can be done. I hope junon item mall npc's never come back... we can dream can't we?

To "help" you have to decipher a way to get a foot in the door... a very hard task indeed for both good and bad reasons.
