Hey guys, I got another DR card and I am torn between putting my second one into either an Etan thing or an EA FAW.

I currently have a DR HBP. I am primarily using the Gene for Instances and maybe BBs if I ever stock pile enough of them.

Which do you guys recommend? Is the damage difference between a DR HBP and a DR EA FAW  really that big?

If you had to choose between a FAW or Etan thing which would you pick Ash?

FAW

There are very few situations where you require both a great neutral resist+ elemental.

How much ranged damage you got now, total?

I'm going for the 120 str/dex, 110 int and rest vit. I have Cynder hat thing, Tangu set, Evil Dragon/Diablos robes armors, temp dex boots BP, temp str boots BP, multiple +15 crimsons, 2x saphires, an EA shooter FAW and DR HBP.

I would really like to increase damage with survivability, which is why I'm wondering how huge of a difference the FAW will make or if it would be better to just go with the etan. Only other PVM classes I use is multiple GX, but they default DR HBP or crit FAW.

If you already got an ea faw menblat then i'd get the etran. More damage is always nice but it only matters to kill faster, survivability can be a factor of being or not able to do something. Besides, you can always give the sura the etrans for tanking if you feel like it.

With HBP you got either 29 or 34% ranged damage(str and dex boots respectively), the 16% ranged damage from faw would increase your final damage by 12,4 and 12% respectively.

I only use Devi Etran on my sura to tank. There's no situation, that I could see, where I would pick Etran over FAW on a gene. Mind u I take full advantage of lvl 150 homuncs. =D

sorry to necro/hijack, but im in a dilemma too. Getting my first and only devi for awhile, wondering to get it in a +9 HBP or a +0 etran. I get 65% reduc from neutral in the HBP, and 50% without the elemental downside for mvping.

i do plan to mvp a lot, but my gene is onyl 145 at the moment. with a hbp i get greater neutral resist for farming, i get  greed without switching gears, and most importantly i can use it while leveling all my new chars (i only have a 160 gx, 130 sorc, and 145 gene  at the moment. need more chars and stuff to do instances with)

not sure what kind of DR garment to buy...

I am very happy that my first one was in a DR HBP, because it works amazing with my GX. The second one was just a lucky card from an album I got doing instances.

Doubt that helps, but I am 10000% satisfied with my DR HBP.

I only wear dr etran when "tanking" and soloing Ifrit and Valk with genetic. But I noticed it's a big dmg loss, so It's still debatable whether it worth.

You can get away with valk by using a kirin/angeling armor, thunder proofs and alice, the LoV is the least powerfull spell and you shouldnt have problem with the DR damage increase(ppl use this tactic for a long while already). And for ifrit fire armor suffice the increase that DR gives already, thankfully he only uses neutral+fire.

if its for BB i rather make a glass cannon gene and a very tough sura. give the etran devi to your sura make sure its +10 to avoid knock back with +12 palace guard and +12 immune shield alice with hero maskthen elemental armor depending on what mvp. for gene use your faw ea10 with menblat get a +9 hero trade mail with porcellio stack gold scaraba with wrist and then +9 temp str with ea4. more damage more fun! your sura will be steady as a concrete.

call a stringer for faster cart cannon spam make sure you buff yourself with atkspeed pots.

can someone make a list of situations where a deviant etran would be more useful than a deviat hbp or faw for a gene?

i can only think of one with my limited experience, and that is ifrit coz he does high melee as well as elemental damage

Etran works wonders on mvps with multiple element spells. I use it for entwaein for the non-knockback. The dmg loss is really huge not using FAW

Should immune/DR be the default garment for CC leveling and for doing instances? Would having a sera be enough to ditch immune/DR garments? For leveling and some instances as well.

The only garments I use on my genetic: menblatt, dr and flamel faw. Tbh I don't even remember when was the last time I used raydric. menblatt is like all you need 90% of the time. If you have sera, you probably need dr less than I do. I don't have sera

For leveling, will menblatt be enough?

Which instances can genes farm efficiently anyway?
