It's hard to play when there are barely people on Channel 1. I mean I'm shouting for help to kill Grand Peco almost an hour xD
yeah, sadly mostly everyone wants to skip all the first part of the game and be master level as quick as posible, so new players have to go back to what they left pending after they are high enough to solo all the stuff (in general ML1 with master level gears is enough to solo all the previous stuff) 
However, if you try asking in ch 3 (to look for party) high lvl players will help you if they are free
