Hi all,

 

I'm planning on getting on this life sucking vortex we all love, aka RO. I checked last night the servers, Classic had 4XX online at 03:00 UTC. Renewal had around 2,4k.

 

Sooooo, here are my questions

1) Is the classic server active? I'm planing on PvE mostly, I dunno how much time has the server running so not sure if those were 4XX were 200 Lvl.99 and 200 merchs. So far I have been unsuccessful on dragging any other poor souls back into RO so I really depend on being able to party/guild with you lovely people, hence my question.

 

2) Basically the same question but regarding the renewal server :3

3) I see 99/70 is no longer the limit, does this apply on both renewal servers?

4) Is there really a difference between VIP and regular users? Besides faster lvling (Exp Manuals) and those kind of things.. I hate that feeling when VIP players just always have the upper hand, any OP equipment's only VIP can get, etc?

I realize both question 3 and 4 are, most likely, answered already somewhere around here buuut if you'd be kind enough to humour me I'd really appreciate it.

1) Will have to wait for someone that plays Classic to answer.

 

2) Renewal it's probably less than half of 2400 because alts and bots.

 

3) Classic is still the same, renewal is 175/60 for 3rd classes.

 

4) VIP you get 50% more exp and drop chance and less exp lost on deaths, you get some extra warps, no need for stones when you change to 3rd class, free mercenaries and probably other minor things, no OP equips.

Classic is dead full of vendors and most people are in Asgard. Janeway is your bestfriend there who offers kill quests that will level you from level 1-70.

 

If you want to try Renewal try Thor. You won't be disappointed.

Thank you both! I feared Classic would be dead, I guess it had a short life span for the farming frenzy people are used to now a days..

I'll give renewal a shot as soon as I get off from work <3

I have a new and returning player friendly guild if your interested in joining for help and advice / once you learned the game again feel free to spread your wings and find another guild or stay with us =)

I think Renewal Chaos is the best for PvM players because there are simply more people playing. You can find guilds and party to do instances, leveling, and farming with on every other timezone. Also renewal is getting new contents every few months, which is perfect for PvE players.

Be warned though, RO has become freemium pay2win type of game, so be careful not to overspend on lucky box gears. They do tend to release newer and better ones to keep the hamster wheel spinning.

Bots become less of an issue and more a utility nowdays. They don't really bother you since you level via questing (Gramp TI). They make supplies of zeny and leveling materials available so the stuffs you farm and vend can actually be sold. There was a bot nuked lately and it's been very difficult to sell anything now.

PvP and WoE also has a big paywall to participate. I don't recommend them at all unless you are willing to spend thousands USD and hundreds of hours into the game.

Thanks people, still haven't managed to make the time to sit down and play BUT great feedback. 

@302414011etc Yeah, I aint spending sh!t of real money on this. I miss the PvE partys, one shooting this buggers -> with my champ or when  suddenly a wiz pooled aggro, freaked out, 'flywinged' away and everything going down the drain in less than 5 seconds, that sort of things make RO great for me, rather than PvP/WoE that overtime became 'Who has more ranked pots'

Not many people plays in Thor, I heard the zeny flows has inflated to a crazy degree.

To answer OP, Thor is Renewal and Loki is Classic. There are two Renewal servers atm and that's Chaos and Thor. Chaos is mostly catered for the West side of the globe and Thor is SEA based as most users are from the old pRO but not all. I know some people from the other side who plays in Thor even though the difference in time- i.e. partying/woe/ and other major events that it would have great impact on ones playing experience. This is true for Chaos as well.
