100k~150k ea is nothing I'd call massive.

Not the cheapest stuff ever if you have little founds, but still cheap enough to be worth using in specific situations.

For the time they last, I'd call it massive as well. :heh: That's why I only use them in some HP Milionaire instance bosses. Except Str, Vit and Luk ones... those are really cheap, and my GX feast on them whenever he feels like. XD

The thought of someone implying something worth 120~200K "massive" could only cross my mind if this thing was supposed to be used all the time. :P Even when I was a new player. I thought it was "not worth", but still used +20 INT/DEX/LUK/AGI foods + Herb of Incantation against Fenrir. :P

As said before, even without int/dex food one would have over 85% variable reduction which is more than enough for levelling, partying etc. Using them when facing difficult bosses with good rewards is IMO viable option.

Yeah, using food to get 100% VCT reduction through stats isnt recommended, its way too expensive for too little gain. For Sorcerers, its a lot easier to achieve instant casting through gears. For Warlocks, just forget about it, you are stuck with FCT anyway. There is a reason why Sorcerer is a dent middle-tier class due to its capability to instant-cast, while Warlock is among the weakest 3rd classes due to low damage and high casting time/cast-delay. If you are playing a warlock, you are better off stacking up MATK and MDEF Piercing, the new Flattering Robe is a good starting point, we still need Magician's Gloves badly.

Way too expensive? Too little gain? Quite the contrary.

First of all, it's not like you are forced to use +20 food all the time. +10 are cheap, and even those are not that necessary for questing or levelling.

The cost of acquiring VCT gear(current prices): 700 to 800M for FAW alone. +9 skull cap around 250M around 200M for KK card. At least 300M for Thorn staff. Add accesories. Easily 1.5-2B worth of zeny. Moreover you are locked to specific gears.

Via stats: 250-300M for +9 temporal dex (Imo the best choice because it allows dropping Ventus in favor of Aqua) 200-300M for decent triple int faceworm. Black devil's mask 60M. These 3 are the staples. I'm rather poor, so for the time being I added:

shadow set for +4 stats, 2x clever silversmith bracelet (1M), double spell thorn staff (20M). Without any buffs my stats are (lvl 146): INT 105+32 DEX 121+31. So 441/530 = 83% reduction. For the fraction of price I managed to reach comfortable amount of cast speed reduction.

And it'll only get better. I can still push INT to 120. With 16.1 flattering robe becomes hands off the best chest for both sorc and warlock. In order to get good damage one would want two INT enchants anyway. Even closer to instacast. When magician's glove arrives one will lose VCT reduction coming from RWC. Furthermore, with magician's glove around +15 crimson gears with magic bypass cards will lose its worth immensely, most probably outshined by vicious rod/staff with damage/damage/+INT enchants.

Actually, with the flattering robe and minmaxed equipment +20 food will not be necessary at all.

Overall, the costs of gear will most likely be similar, but instacast via stats provides not only more freedom but better damage as well.

Finishing note: I forgot to mention that the cost of food is not a valid argument since every sorc will use it for anyway for additional damage from INT modifiers.

I have been able to oneshot Fatums all the time with that weakest 3rd job class of yours. :u

As we all know those things have 198Mdef.

So yep, definetly totally weak.

I have seen one well/decently-geared Ranger that has been able to do the same in all of the High TI runs I did this week. And I did a lot of them.

So sorry but stop to QQ and learn to play your class properly instead of spreading false information.

Has Warlock been among the weakest? Definetly for a long time.

Is it still? Definetly not for quite a while now (since NCT/NP Cards + Crimson Rods, Pororoca Shoes made them even stronger).

Is it expensive to gear a Warlock? Yes, but that does not make it weak. You can have really awesome damage without a single MVP card!

Badly geared Rangers/GX/RK/insteropclasshere have low damage just like a badly geared WL.

Heck I even saw a Ranger hitting as low as ~30k on Fatum with Arrow Storm... All Warlocks I saw hit for at least 30k, too. On a 198 MDef mob.

Edit:

If gear cost would influence how strong a character is seen, quite a lot of op chars would suddently be considered pretty damn weak. :v

I reach instant cast with +20 Dex food and VIP buffs on my Sorc. Worth it to me for hunting Gold Scarabas, I can't stand using non-instant cast Diamond Dust.

and then i was doing ogh with a +7 thanatos staff and a pumkin hat on the weakest class of RO, i must be masochistic lol XD wls compensate a lot with survivality (yeah survivality) and even then dealing 400k per SE and over 200k with crimson rock is not weak XD, even when i made the ogh video i was doing like 200k+ dps XD with intensification on, only downside of WLs is how MDEF scale

So, yeah... I love how the enchants in my faws helped to reduce the cast time but... My main problem is the damage now. i don't have zeny for 1b+ gear. Sadboys

(Yeh I dont have even 500M for 2 spirit king rings XD)

Yeah, That's why I sold my sp17 faw and bought +9 temporal sp/runaway dex and paired it with triple int faceworm with antique book.

Thats the kind of tradeoff you have to make, cast time vs damage per cast. A more useful matrix is DPS, damage per second. Do a calculation on how the increase in damage changes with respect to time, and make your decision. Due to the presence of Cast Delay and Cool Down Time, usually the less shot you need to kill a monster, the better.
