I've recently changed my laptop's hdd to ssd and upgraded from 4gb to 8gb. I've also reformatted/re-installed my os. However, ever since this new set-up, I've been having problems running more than 1 client. My mouse pointer slows down and stutters when more than 1 clients are open. Even on my old dying HDD and just 4gb ram, I could still run two to four clients smoothly. How do I optimize my system to run multiply clients? What graphics settings should I use cause I really doubt that I'm supposed to be getting poorer performance with RO as outside multi-clients, I'm getting way better performance than HDD.

Here are the specs of my laptop:
i7-4702HQ 2.20 ghz (This is a 4c/8t procie with cores unparked by tweaking some stuff in regedit)
8 gb ram

240 ssd (western digital green)

Logitech g102 mouse using on-board settings.

If there's a dinput.dll in your ro directory, try deleting that.

Well it did remove the stutter and mouse lag but I can no longer move the mouse outside the windowed client which is sort of important for me. Is there other work around for this?

Was there some sort of patch that change things that has to do with this feature?

On renewal, disabling "mouse exclusive" in setup allows the cursor to be moved outside of the window.

Yes. I've unchecked that option and it still lags. It's not a performance problem since two clients are only using around 4-7% of the cpu. Is there something that has anything to do with mouse movement that I can tinker with?

Wasn't that fixed by deleting dinput.dll?

Yes. But I didn't have to delete it before.

Update: Second client no longer lags after playing with the first client after a few minutes. It's still inconsistent. Earlier, I tried to open a second client after going afk with one of my alt accounts and it still lags and the mouse still slowed down.

Do you play Windowed Mode or Fullscreen? What is your Graphic Card's model?

I forgot to specify. Sorry.

I'm using window mode and I'm using GT 740m using the most recent driver. Changing the graphics settings doesn't seem to do anything. Whenever I open up two clients at the same time without logging in to either of them, the lag/mouse slow-down is consistent.

However, it doesn't happen 100% of the time when I open a second client after playing for a few minutes with just one client. Could this be a RAM problem?

My understanding is that dinput.dll was added to the RO installation package sometime within the last few years, but is not present in any of the patches. Therefore someone who installed the game many years ago and has kept up to date via patches would not have the file. On most of my computers I have never had to delete the file as it simply didn't exist. I only had to delete it from new installations--mostly because it also causes problems with other software.

Did you have dinput.dll before you reinstalled?

I'm not sure. Last time I reinstalled was prolly around two months ago when I was still on my HDD.

Btw, thanks for being patient so far. I appreciate the quick response.

For what it's worth, if I copy dinput.dll to my RO directory, I then have the same problem you described--so I don't think there is anything wrong with your computer.

Arrgh. I forgot to take it out when I unchecked the mouse exclusive option. I thought removing it would turn on the mouse exclusive option like it did when I first removed it. Thank you so much for your time. Case closed.

IIRC, mouse exclusive defaults to on, but dinput.dll overrides that behavior. I would guess that mouse exclusive had been enabled the entire time but didn't actually take effect until you deleted the file.
