I tried contacting someone's recently regarding the dragon saga wiki but never got so much as a recognition of reading my message reply about it.

I've been trying to find the appropriate person to talk to regarding ds.irowiki.org since we have closed it currently and suddenly are being swamped with people wanting the information.

The wiki has had no one in charge of it for at least a year and no one has come to us wanting to take over the job either.

Does warp portal want access to the wiki to take over, migrate data to the new one, or whatever? I don't play the game so I have no idea what the actual value of old data is to the current game play. We just have no more desire to keep the dead wiki active ourselves.

That is why the new one was made; wp or anyone else to that matter didn't have any connection with the ironwiki admin(s).

I've been thinking that maybe we could just copy stuff that's still up to date from ironwiki. Ofcourse plagiarising isn't good but I think in this case it'd simply be too beneficial not to do.

I've tried many times over the past few years to get in touch with the iron related GM's for irowiki itself and asked about being in contact with a general warp portal liaison of some kind and been met with slow or no replies and lack of desire to reply to me past the first generic reply.

I'm the wife of blueness who owns the wikis and server so there was no excuse to snub me as if I were unable to speak on the behalf of the server... Unfortunately that's how it has felt in most warp portal contact attempts. This is my last attempt to find the proper channel to get in contact with the dragon saga department before it just gets removed from the server entirely.

Ohh I see now. Have you pmed CM Dragonlark here on the forum? Ignoring you or being uninterested in the matter doesn't sound like her.

Hello, Precrush is right. Dragonlark is the one responsible for the new wiki.

However, would you (the OP) be able to provide the files for the Dragon Saga skill simulator to me? I would like to host the skill simulator on a website until the new wiki is complete. Even though it's outdated it's still useful for a lot of players.

 

If you would be able to provide the needed files I would appreciate it if you could send them to : vmpopcorn@gmail.com as zip/rar/7z archive if possible. Thank you.

As to the files, blueness and I were wondering if anyone knows who runs they new wiki or is it dragonlark that runs it? We'd be interested in talking to them about wiki data and such.

As for the skill sim, do you know if it was it a page on the wiki itself or a page off the wiki and linked to? I'm not familiar with the dragon saga wiki set up personally but will look into it when I have a free moment.

Hi Vienna!

 

I sent you a reply to your PM! Sorry that took so long (I've been getting a lot more messages on the forums recently so sometimes it takes a little longer to get a response out!)

 

The new DS Wiki that was set up is on Gamepedia. Technically Gamepedia itself runs all its wikis, but I have administrator access and others can register on the site to add information as well.

http://irowiki.org/~himeyasha/dssim2/ should get anyone who needs it access to the skill sim. It was a himeyasha project on their own space so it's not effected by the wiki shutdown at the moment.

 

Edit: Blue just updated the old ds wiki with links to the sim and an archived copy of the wiki for now. Once we figure out what we're doing with the wiki we're hosting we'll get it touch with the community again!

So we talked to Dragonlark and figured out you guys would use the new wiki, but port the old wiki over to it.

 

 

Good news is, here is the old wiki: http://ds.irowiki.org/old/Main_Page

 

The bad news is you have to port every page by hand. Talk to Dragonlark, maybe she will do an event for you!

 

Click on a page, click on "view source", copy the code to the clipboard, then go over to your wiki, make a new page, and paste the code in.

If someone wants a dump of all the images uploaded let me know.

 

 

As for the skill sim, http://ds.irowiki.org/skillsim/ will redirect to the longer link for the skill sim. At some point I'd like to figure out how to update it, or is igo-zuvi even still around? We can keep hosting it, that is not a problem.

I have started a contest for those who want to help us transfer the information or contribute to the new Wiki here.

Just finished working on a huge import streak, taking a break and will continue to help tomorrow. Someone better step up for the competition, I just got my 100th edit earlier from importing pages, haha.

 

Also, to note, I can't tell when things are "outdated" so any page I've imported has been core information like the class data and sets which was not on the new wiki at all. If there is new information needed, please edit and update them! Also if there are missing "Templates" I will get to them shortly, it's been a lot of work porting over the irowiki style pages, the CSS from irowiki is missing on the new wiki so some things are formatted a little janky, I'll try to get around to helping fix them as I get free time to work on it!

Have you perhaps contacted this Wagnike2 person on the new wiki? He seems to be the one from gamepedia/curse tasked with our wiki. Maybe he'd know a good way to transfer all the images for example.

One of the people I know who can edit the actual code for the simulator quit forever. Although I know how to edit some stuff I can't do anything about it.

He told everyone that he would step away from the forums and I assume that is what he did. Seems he has turned off his private messages too.

I looked into bulk upload options for different thing and I though could have XML exported the pages but importing risked killing off a lot of already existing things. As it is I've had to edit some of the imported templates to be tagged with irowiki at the end of the template name because things already existed on the wiki (like Template:Monsterirowiki) to make importing the info we already had not an even larger chore than it already is.

As for the images, I was reading the gamepedia help files and apparently there's some kinda bulk loader, I can't remember the name MS-something. But I assume that's an admin or whatever permission to access it. I have all the images from the wiki locally on our private site backup server in the other room, but I don't have access to the bulk loader so that's a moot point right now, unfortunately. I'll have to ask Dragonlark about it I guess.

the skill sim was managed by me but the source code is not ours to give. most likely we'll prefer to keep it hosted on irowiki since the rest of nal's projects are there. didn't think people used it anymore; i'll try to keep it updated with current links once the new wiki is live

 

neither of us are active players so it would be in the community's best interest if someone else can take over the wiki. thanks
