Spoiler Monologue of an NPC

Hello! I am an Non-Playable Character or an NPC for short, I was created in a town called Izlude in Rune Midgard and to this day, I stand unmoving from my spot.

I reopen my eyes as the world starts again, I stand in my place in my simple brown dress, smiling as I look on as adventurers start flowing in to the town. First it was a trickle and soon a handful and then a lot more steadily going in and out of Izlude.
I know only what is in my immediate vantage point which is just before the gates on Criatura Academy and just before one leaves the town center, beyond that I do not know.
I was given 27 panels of dialogue, no more and no less. I speak them only when prompted and although I spoke so much when I was first born that my jaw started to hurt (That's a lie though. We NPCs don't get tired or feel pain but I like to think I do), now I go for ages without speaking.
It's probably because what I say isn't very interesting and adventurers just don't find enjoyment in learning about these things. They would rather fight monsters (like when we recently had an invasion of sea creatures in our town. I didn't get hurt - they didn't seem to think we were dangerous - but seeing them up close was quite frightening) and go on quests. Well... more interesting quests that mine it seems.
I once dreamed of becoming an adventurer. A priest, one of them had said. I've seen different priests heal and cast different spells to make them and others stronger. My thoughts once ran for days daydreaming of becoming a priest and helping others as they fought monsters, I would heal them, give them buffs and revive those who fell in battle. We would go on quests, find items and improve our equipment then cry when we lost and cheer when he won. It would be amazing and fascinating and I would love every moment of freedom.

... Sometimes I wonder if the other NPCs have thoughts like these as well. I would really like to say hello to Smile Assistance and Hypnotist, they seem like good people but, like me, I have never seem them move from their spot.
Smile Assistance seems like a nice guy, I wondered what his hobbies were and what he likes to do on his spare time. I sometimes go daydreaming about what would happen if I could finally move, I would probably say Hello to him, tears would spill from my eyes that I was finally able to say something that wasn't part of the 27 dialogue I was given and then he would say hello back. Would he feel joy as well? Anger? Fear? We were only NPCs after all, not adventurers. Will we be targeted by the monsters as well when we step out of Izlude.
Will I die and revive too?

But these are all daydreams. Things I can only think of as I stand in my spot. Giving out the Shop Guide Quest and helping new adventurers level just a little bit when they finally talk to me. I still cheer inside whenever they finish the tasks I give and then go on their merry way, most never to speak to me ever again.

14 years of Ragnarok Online

Truly are the golden days of mine

I still remember the numbers of people I have met

It was like two thousand people for WoE, I bet

 

I remember begging my parents to give me money

And to this day, I still find it funny

That I'm still playing with full of heart

And realize I have been here from the start

 

Back then was tough and it was a long way run

But never have I thought it would be this fun

I slayed lots of Hodes to earn some zeny

'Coz Rough Eluniums surely gave me plenty

 

I'll never forget my first MVP card

Oh man, when I saw it dropped, it got me hard

A Tao Card was not much back in those days

But today, I use it in so many ways

 

I stopped playing after the  150 level cap

But after 2 long years, I came back in a snap

Surprised to see my first guild still alive

But sad to find there's only just us five

 

Found lots of new friends and joined their guild

People who were nice and really skilled

And to this day we all still hang on

Together we fight from dusk till dawn

 

It's true that players always come and go

But a handful of them will always know

That they will always be my precious friends

They know who they are, hope it never ends

 

So here's to 14 years of Ragnarok Online

I only want for its future to shine

Even though it may be just a game to some

I feel like we've been through so much.
Three years is enough
to know that our bond is
real, unshaken, and true.
At Prontera Church, 
as we made our vows,

Girls and guys came and went.
A rogue with a tight butt or
a wanderer with nice legs,
but all we saw behind those pixelated eyes
were each other.

We've conquered turn ins,

Thanks for withdrawing the dreadful flapping angeling hat ultimate prize.  In light of this most welcome decision I'd like to rescind my withdrawal (post #60) and reinstate my original writing entry (post #27; fascinating to see these numbers change as you quietly remove those annoysome voices), with only one small change:

"Desired Participation Prize: idk? Cylinder Headband?" changed to "Desired Participation Prize: Fan in mouth" - I'm sticking to everything else I said in that post.

 

Just so you know I had started work on a visual arts entry, as the first prize line up (posted 22 days into the contest duration) meant that that was the only category worth entering.  As other people have already said, this was about as big a disaster as you could make out of such a small thing.
