Hello,

 

So I started playing yesterday after a long break from RO and decided to make a Merchant/Blacksmith.

I'm currently about lvl 40/28 but am pretty much naked aside from my weapon and adventurer suit.

 

I'm wondering if it's worth buying some equipment from players or from shops or if for now it's better to just make do with what I've got until I either craft something worth while or get a good drop?

The only thing I really felt worth investing money in so far was a decent weapon.

 

Any advice would be appreciated as well as any suggestions on what good weapons/armor to go for would be.

after u get overcharge and discount lvl 10 get yourself a swordmace and maybe a chainmail if you're an vit merch, if you're agi save for a pantie/undershirt combo, as for buying stuff, let the market stabilize

I was going to get a two handed axe. Is the Sword Mace a better choice? Could you elaborate on why?

Axes lose a lot of DPS due to size penalty (75% on medium, 50% on small) while maces deal 100% on most mobs. Maces are also faster, and you can use a shield.

You only get rid of your size penalty problems when you are a BS and get Weapon Perfection, and yeah maces have good aspd and enable using a shield. 2h Axes dont have a too high atk to offset the advantages of maces (at least the basic ones)

Mace is good when you are a merchant, but when you become in a Blacksmith i dont see any reason to use mace, of course if you are rich enough then you can forget about Two-handled Axe and use a good Mace with a Buckler then full mamonite :v (but to be honest i dont think someone right now can leveling with Mamonite since everyone is poor even players who already have 5~10M use this skill is no good choice yet)

Not sure yet but is like a weird fusion of both, renewal and classic i get from Galapagos a Melon (a Geneticist stuff) in Pre-renewal this cant drop (this made me have a bad feeling about certain drop...) so about the rate %, i dont know, but pretty sure there are DROP penalty as kRO renewal, i hope be wrong, but i dont think my bad RNG is on all time lol.

Where can we get the Swordmace by any chance? Can't seem to find the old NPC seller in Morroc for it.

May I ask if the aspd penalty from renewal when using a shield doesn't apply on the mechanics of our server. As far as I remember when renewal was implemented the aspd penalty came into effect.

any works, but just use shield if you really need the reduction, otherwise you are just hurting your dps.
