Thanks for this, it actually shortened the time I have to hook in the shark. It's basically like playing rock paper scissors. A win will damage the fish, a lose will damage the rod, and a draw will damage them both.

Personally the rewards themself made me salty but I'm over it. I do agree after doing this event a lot over the past 4? days that it's just mind numbing. I'm only at 600 points and I wanna kill myself. It'd be nice if the encounter was a lot shorter so I didn't have to spam my Enter key so much. I'm happy that they didn't make this event for casuals but god dam, I wanna puke every time it glitches out and no more commands pop up. Makes me wanna macro it.

Here's what I do. I imagine myself not as an adventurer. Not as the hero who defeated Satan Morocc. Not the hero that every NPC ooks up to. I imagine myself as someone who wanted to go fishing. There is no one else in Midgard other than you, your rod, and the fish. It is just you three in this moment. As you choose to pull away, imagine yourself pulling away your trusty rod from a thrashing shark, or a sly octopus. As you choose to reel it in, imagine yourself reel your rod in with all your might. You reel, you reel, you reel until get that moment. That moment of victory against a worthy adversary. That moment that gives you the drive to cast that rod again.

1. Shark, Snapper and Octopus have 16 units HP

2. Slipper and Fresh fish have 1 units HP

2. Reel in decreased 1 unit HP (No matter if the fish is coming, holding or pulling)

 

And now i am testing what might happened if reel in while the fish is pulling

Nerve fail fishing on first attempt (reeling while fish is pulling)

But have failed on second attempt

And haven't failed on fifth attempt

So my bet is on there is a chance you will fail if reeling while fish is pulling)

i also support this theory.

Every object has their own HP, our rod also has its own HP (i believe to be 5, CMIIW).

 

Every time you choose reel in, it will decrease object HP by 1. no matter the situation is (steady, towards you, pulling away).

Every time you choose reel in when the situation is the object pulling away, it will decrease rod HP by 1.

choosing hold steady and playing the line has neutral action.

So, the objective is to reel in as many times as you can while keeping your rod HP.

if the object HP is 0, you get that object. if your rod HP is 0, the object runs away.

conclusion:

object moves towards you -> reel in

object steady -> reel in

object pulling away from you -> hold steady or playing the line. or you can reel in if you know the object HP is already low. choosing reel in will decrease both object HP and your rod HP

 

fresh fish object has 1 HP

slipper object has 1 HP

giant squid on byalan has 40 HP

I recorded the bug at hugel and comodo...it's really not much to say though...there seems no logic when will it bug!

1.Always happened on first attempt (the dialogue box disappeared after choosing)

2.I Always choose reel in on first attempt no matter what the fish situation is) and this bug happened form time to time

Also to add, you still have the same unexplainable bugs that plagued the quest before. At least fix it and try to IMPROVE on the quest if you're going to re-release it.

 

 

Campitor, it's been around for 3 years.

If you haven't encountered this bug, then to me it means you haven't really play test it. It's also one of the most annoying things to experience when doing this quest because if your dialogue goes beyond 15 chat dialogue, chances are you have the fish. But then suddenly you press the ENTER button one more time and there's not other message given except you're left with that screen of "wtf buggy RO game."

And think about this as well, if someone was to want ALL the costumes, that's 20000 points. Each big fish you can get is worth about 15.

You're telling me to run around and click these fish spots and spam enter for over 1500 times i'm attempting this? Do you really want us to enjoy RO or just giving me a reason to be upset and annoyed when I'm trying to enjoy this fishing quest but you realize the whole set up is made against you. Campitor, it's FINE if a person can finish getting this item after 2 weeks worth of farming. But don't try to make it consume so much of their time because players already understand what they need to do. Do you still log onto some of your old phone games to do dailies? I sure don't because I find it boring. The worse thing is that I have to do this every 30 mins - 1 hour if I seriously want to farm this. Which I don't mind if it was at 500.

Again, I'm sorry that I am expressing such frustrations. But i've done this quest when it was at 500 for the reward. Seeing the prizes at 5000 just makes me think about how much time will be wasted if I do decide to grind it out.

 

 

Okay so good news is Magus was able to reproduce the issue... and well we will be able to fix this particular bug. It has most often to do with not using bait for fishing but can happen in other rarer circumstances. Next week's patch will prevent this from happening.

My biggest gripe is why we can't see the HP on your rod and fish.

Even the Seal 4 quest shows the HP when you're fighting that dwarf in rock paper scissors.

When Troy was out, you knew you only had to win X amount of times.

The fishing quest is way too ambiguous along with it being already buggy. Players are better buying off the reward since it's probably easier just to make that money back.

I commend you for your efforts and insight Demeris.

This quest deserves your adjectives and then some. What really bothers me though is the thought train to priviledge this kind of nonsense content over some other areas of the game that really could use some working hours.

Not a happy post but necessary for these guys to wake up and dont assume we enjoy such material.

It's called laziness. And this quest reflects on their inability to provide something enjoyable for the community to do.

No one does this quest and think, "wow, this quest is so fun and addicting!" No one wants to continue to grind for hours and hours playing a mini game that is full of RNG and difficult to understand.

Players are doing this quests for some great headgears, that are not even made by iRO. Warp portal is just publishing content from other servers because they're incapable of understanding their own players. But it doesn't always matter what we think. They're living the life by releasing virtual items and currency that a lot of players are willing to buy. Who wouldn't want to make money and not care about the quality of their work?
